Yarn Craft Materials Needed:
Butterfly net template (attached) Flower/grass page (attached) White Glue Scissors Yarn Crayons/Colored Pencils
Print Instructions:
1. Print out butterfly net (attached) on heavy cardstock paper. One per child. 2. Print out flower/grass page. One per child.
How to Assemble butterfly net:
1. Cut 5 pieces of yarn, measuring approximately 3 & 3/4 inches. 2. Glue each piece of yarn on each horizontal line. 3. Cut 8 pieces of yarn, measuring approximately 2 & 1/2 inches. 4. Glue each piece of yarn on each vertical line.
Complete Craft: 1. Color and cut out butterflies. 2. Glue butterflies on top of the net to “capture” the butterflies! 3. Color Flower/Grass page and glue completed butterfly net on page as
indicated.

Butterfly net template (attached) Flower/grass page (attached) 1/8 inch Hole Punch Tape Scissors Plastic Needle (optional) Yarn Crayons/Colored Pencils
Print Instructions: Print out Butterfly Net and Flower/Grass page on heavy cardstock paper. 1 per child.
How to Assemble butterfly net:
1. Cut out butterfly net. Cut around the net portion on the dotted lines as indicated. 2. Using a small hole punch, punch each circle as indicated around the net.
Note: You can also poke each hole with needle if you do not have a small hole punch. 3. Measure and cut out 2 lengths of yarn 20 inches long. 4. Thread yarn on butterfly net as indicated below:
Vertical Lines: 1. Begin by threading yarn from the back of the net through the first left circle on the top row. 2. Tape end of yarn to back of net. 3. Thread yarn from this top hole straight down (vertically) and push through first hole on bottom. 4. Continue by threading yarn up through the second bottom hole and straight up (vertically) and push through
the second top hole. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 all the way across the net. 6. Tape the end of yarn at back of net when you are finished with all the vertical lines.
Horizontal Lines: 1. Begin by threading yarn from the back of the net through the first top circle on the left row. 2. Tape end of yarn to back of net. 3. Thread yarn from this top left hole straight across (horizontally: left to right), weaving the yarn as such:
under, over, under, over. 4. After weaving across this top row (left to right), push yarn down through top hole on the right. 5. Continue by threading yarn up through the second hole on the right and straight across (horizontally: right
to left), weaving the yarn as such: over, under, over, under. 6. After weaving across this second row (right to left), push yarn down through the second hole on the left. 7. Repeat steps 3 - 6 for the remaining horizontal rows on the net. 8. Tape the end of yarn at back of net when you are finished with all the horizontal lines.
Complete Craft: 1. Color and cut out butterflies. 2. Carefully move yarn to place butterflies under the net. 3. Color Flower/Grass page and glue completed butterfly net on page as indicated.

Do not weave the horizontal yarn, just place the yarn on top of the vertical yarn.
