Teacher Qualification Update

BSBITU102A Develop keyboard skills This level 1 unit requires teachers to be able to touch type with the correct

finger placement. In the new teacher program, OTEN has provided a touch typing program on CD, which is copyright free for educational purposes. Any existing teachers needing to upskill or practice their keyboarding can download a copy of the following software, or any other touch typing software (many of which are available, either free or for little cost). Analytical Eye Typing Tutor, http://www.aetech.co.uk/ttutor/download.html

BSBITU203A Communicate electronically Existing teachers are deemed to be competent in all areas of skill except for

social networking. New teachers will be required to contribute to a Wiki which OTEN will set up as part of the training. It is suggested that RTOs encourage Business Services teachers to interact through wikis, blogs or discussion lists to maintain and demonstrate skills in social networking.

BSBU201A Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices. Teachers did not cover this in their pre-service training, and would need to

access resources to cover the gap. Schools are likely to be covering this material in other subjects and teachers will need to transfer their knowledge to the office environment.

Resources available to support this unit – see handout
