ANTÓNIO CASTRO is the General Manager for Central Europe at Martifer Renewables SA and the Vice-President of the Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (PPCC). For more than 12 years he worked as the General Manager of Soares da Costa SA in civil construction business with presence in several African countries, such as Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guiné Bissau and others. Since 1998 Mr António Castro works and lives in Poland, first as General Manager for Central Europe at Mota-Engil International, now at Martifer Renewables SA. Mr António Castro received the Portuguese Order of Merit from the President of the Republic of Portugal.

GRETE FAREMO joined UNOPS as Executive Director in August 2014. Before this appointment, Ms. Faremo held various senior-level positions for the Government of Norway. Most recently, she was Minister of Justice and Public Security; a role she held for two years. During her first appointment as Minister of Justice, Ms. Faremo initiated negotiations between Schengen member countries and Norway on security and free movement in Europe, which culminated in the Nordic Schengen Agreement, signed in 1996 by the Governments of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. She was Minister of Defence (2009-2011), Minister of Oil and Energy (1996), Minister of Justice (1992-1996), and Minister of Development Cooperation (1990-1992) for the Norwegian Government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She was elected member of Parliament from 1993 to 1997. Ms. Faremo also brings a wealth of experience from the private sector, working as the Executive Vice President for the Norwegian insurance group, Storebrand, from 1997 to 2003. From 2003 to 2008, she held the position of Director of Law and Corporate Affairs at Microsoft Corporation's Western European Office, where she developed the legal and public affairs division responsible for corporate compliance in the region. Ms. Faremo has sat on various advisory boards and associations throughout her career, including Norwegians Peoples' Aid, the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, the Competence Development Fund of Southern Norway, Norsk Hydro ASA, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the University of Bergen. Ms. Faremo graduated from the University of Oslo in 1978, with a degree in Law, specializing in International law. She entered the public service in 1979, as an executive officer in the Norwegian Government's Ministry of Finance, later moving to NORAD in 1980, and the then newly established Ministry of Development Cooperation, where she worked for six years. Ms. Faremo was born in 1955 in Byglandsfjord, Norway. She is quadrilingual, fluent in English, Danish and Swedish, aside from her Norwegian mother tongue. She is married and has one daughter.

ROCÍO FRUTOS IBOR Trade and Economics Commissioner of the Spanish State Rocío Frutos is Trade and Economics Commissioner of the Spanish State. She has worked in several positions, starting at the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission, where she worked from 2000 to 2003 as chief inspector and from 2011 to 2012 as assistant deputy director. Furthermore, she worked for the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Trade as assistant deputy director and as advisor to the Secretary of State for Finance and Budget, where she coordinated several international organizations visits (International Monetary Fund, OECD,…) and rating agencies visits. In that position, she monitored European issues (ECOFIN coordination, European Funds, Foreign Ministers visits,…). Since September 2012, Rocío is Trade and Economics Commissioner of the Spanish Embassy in Poland, where she coordinates the support of the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office to Spanish companies wishing to enter into the Polish market, via exports or investments. The Office also gives institutional support to Spanish companies in this market.

ANNAMARIA PASTORE served as the Private Sector lead for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations during the last five years. Previously Ms. Pastore worked as senior sustainability officer for the private sector, spokesperson for a private foundation, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Holy See and an adjunct faculty member for Northwestern University School of Law, International Center for Human Rights in Chicago and de Paul University. She was trained at the Harvard Carr center, the International Peacekeeping School in Pisa, HEI in Geneva, la Sorbonne, IEP in Paris and the Hague Peace Academy and LSE in London. Ms Pastore has served as International Officer working for several United Nations agencies- UNHCR- WFP-UNESCO-UNHCHR and OSCE in Serbia, Kosovo, Sudan, Iran, Eritrea and other areas. She specializes in diplomacy, Food Security, Human Rights, International Relations and International Law. She is fluent in Italian, French, Spanish, Farsi, English and German.

VÉRONIQUE HYEULLE Véronique Hyeulle is policy officer in the Unit responsible for International Affairs and Missions for Growth in the Directorate General Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission. She is responsible for industrial relations with Mercosur, Central and Latin America, Africa and ACP as well as for the external aspects of competitiveness. She joined the Commission in 2001 and worked in several departments of the European Commission, including DG RTD and space policy. She was before Deputy Secretary General of CEPS (the European Spirits Organisation). She also worked as a senior consultant within world-wide networks of Public Affairs and Communication agencies, "the Entente Communication Group". She has an extensive knowledge of trade, industrial affairs, internal market, consumers, environment and intellectual property rights. Véronique Hyeulle studied law in Belgium, as well as European and International Business Law in the Catholic University of Louvain and in the University of Liège. She also studied Trade at the University of Cambridge (UK). She was trainee in the European Commission in the area of trade and antidumping and she participated in the negotiation of the WTO Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade during the Uruguay Round. She was also lecturer in EU Environment law and policy in the Institut d'Etudes Européennes of the Catholic University of Louvain. She speaks French, English, Dutch and Spanish.

KATARZYNA KACPERCZYK has been an MFA employee since 2002. She worked at the Foreign Policy Strategy and Planning Department, then, between 2005 and 2009, switched to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations in New York, and from 2009 served at the Foreign Economic Policy Department. After 2010 she was Deputy Director of the Economic Policy Department, and was subsequently appointed Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation. She also worked – as part of the European Commission’s internship program – in DG Enterprise and the Centre for Energy and Public Policy at the Columbia University. Katarzyna Kacperczyk is a graduate of Warsaw University, Universität des Saarlandes in Saarbrücken and the prestigious Columbia University in New York, where she specialized not only in economics, but also in energy market management. She also studied at the Warsaw School of Economics, where she completed a European Studies Programme, implemented jointly with the French Institut d'Etudes Politiques. She also received a DAAD scholarship. In 2011, was awarded by the President with the Gold Cross of Merit. Katarzyna Kacperczyk speaks fluent German, English and French and has a working knowledge of Italian, Russian and Arabic.

MONIQUE KONING is Head of the Project Finance and Guarantees Division in the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Lending Department of the European Investment Bank. Her team has been involved in the financing of many landmark PPP energy projects in Sub Sahara Africa, including the 300 MW Lake Turkana Wind Farm Project in Kenya; Khi Solar CSP Project in the Republic of South Africa (50MW); Cabéolica wind farm in Cape Verde (30 MW); Bujagali Hydropower Project in Uganda (250 MW), the privatised energy utility AES Sonel and Kribi Gas Fired Power Plant in Cameroon (216 MW). In the area of guarantees, her team is working on several innovative credit enhancement projects to mobilise private investors in the context of Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All), an initiative launched by the Secretary-General of the UN. Before joining the EIB in 2006, Mrs Koning was manager of the New Products Division at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) where she spearheaded innovative approaches for the guaranteeing of project finance operations, and developed layered guarantee facilities to enhance investments in conflict-affected countries. She acted as advisor to MIGA’s senior management on key strategic, organisational and process matters. Mrs Koning holds a MSc in Macroeconomics and International Finance from the University of Amsterdam.

JERZY KROGULEC Chairman of the Board Warimpex Polska Managing Director and Board Member of Warimpex Group Companies. For almost 30 years Mr Krogulec has been involved in development undertakings in hotel and trade sectors. He has introduced new hotel construction technologies and new brands to the Polish market and made them distinguishing marks of Warimpex hotels. He aims at preserving the historical shape of buildings when giving them new functions as hotels and offices. He has received many prestigious awards and honorable mentions for his excellent ventures.

ANDRZEJ MACIEJCZYK MSc. Eng. (60) – entrepreneur – founder and CEO of CS-CREATIVE SOLUTIONS Group. Has designed and built two strong Polish brands: EDUKO® in education and OPTA-TECH® in optics and scientific research. Despite to this success never stopped searching for new solutions and technologies to respond to the market needs taking in consideration social responsibility – special concern cancer fighting programs. His activities are concentrating on latest technology transfers to Poland but only as a part for development of Polish local solutions. For this reason with a group of young, open minded, passionate team has created the OPTA-TECH Centre for Innovations, armed with extensive knowledge of the subjects in optical microscopy, nanotechnologies, digital pathology and work flow organization. Experienced in education, technology and marketing. Promoter of comparative education methods in medical and veterinary sciences. Involved in GO AFRICA program is promoting the needs of improvements in education and medical sectors as a basis to sustainable development of agriculture and industry in African countries. Andrzej Maciejczyk MSc. Eng. is a graduate of Warsaw Technical University. From 1980 researcher and lecturer PhD trainee at WTU, from 1982 worked for Baghdad Water Supply Authorities as engineer supervising French contractor, from 1998 cofounder of Brabork company involved in development of consumer electronic market and building-up Philips JV in Kwidzyn, Poland. 1991-1996 DG of Confederation of Polish Employers, delegate to ILO, Geneva and member of directors board of UNICE, Bruxelles . Expert to ILO – European Training Foundation promoting changes in polish vocational education during transformation, Vice president of Polish Technology and Media Education introducing comparative methods in education, supports education programs and development of medical education. Speaks fluent English, Spanish and Russian. He is married and has three daughters.

RICARDO PIMENTEL SEARA is a Director at BPI Group, in charge of international markets at UBD Africa, BPI’s Business Development Unit and investment banking for Africa. He is responsible for execution and origination activities in foreign markets, promoting investment opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa, covering agribusiness, fishing, food, beverages, retail, services, other industrial segments, infrastructures, etc. He holds a degree in Business & Management, from the Portuguese Catholic University, a bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) of Insurance and Banking from IESF (Instituto de Estudos Superiores Financeiros e Fiscais) and is a CFA charter holder (Chartered Financial Analyst), from CFA Institute.

SEAN PURCELL currently holds the position of Chief, Field Procurement Service, with the United Nations Procurement Division, based in New York. He took up this appointment in February of 2012. He previously held the position of Chief, Peace Keeping Procurement Section from March 2010. Prior to Mr. Purcell’s assignment with Procurement Division in 2006 he has performed the function of Chief Procurement Officer with the United Nations Mission in Sudan from 2005 through 2006. From 1988 through 2004 Mr. Purcell held various appointments in Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in the Middle East (UNRWA). Prior to joining the United Nations, Mr. Purcell was a commissioned officer with the Irish Defence Forces from 1974 through 1988. Mr. Purcell holds a Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications and Electronic Engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland. He lives in Manhattan with his wife, Margaret, and they have two daughters.

SERGUEI OUATTARA has been concerned for several years by the development of Africa’s economy especially the private sector. With the support of his network among the African diaspora, he initiated the Brussels’ based EU-Africa Chamber of Commerce in 2012. Serguei Ouattara started his professional career in 2003 as a freelance in Information Systems and Management Consulting and had the opportunity to contribute as High Level Conference Project Manager for the World Bank and the Government of Democratic Republic of Congo. He liaised with the local private sector, professional associations, financial institutions and development agencies such as GiZ, DFID and EU Delegation. He has also been contractor for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to lead studies on SMEs business environment in DRC (2005).

LUIS PADRÓN LÓPEZ was born on November 21st, 1957. He is the Director General of Casa África since February 2014. Casa África is a consortium of Economic and Public Diplomacy that gathers the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Government of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, the Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation and the Municipal Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Casa África works with the aim of promoting good understanding and trust between Spain and Africa, and strengthening Hispano-African relations through economic, political, educational and cultural activities. Mr. Padrón López, has a bachelor´s degree in law from the University of La Laguna. Between 2002 and 2014, he was the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, and was in charge of the internationalization of Canarian companies and relationships with African counterparts. There, he gained a broad experience in commercial relationships between Spain and Africa, and led numerous commercial missions to African countries, especially in the West Africa region. He was also the founder, promoter and Permanent Secretary General of the Atlantic Court of Arbitrage, an instrument created with the aim to promote arbitrage between companies and avoid long conflicts and trials. Spain, Morocco, Mauritania, Cape Verde, Senegal and Guinea Bissau are represented in the Court. Mr. Padrón is also counsellor of the Zona Especial de Canarias (ZEC), and Delegate of the UN Trade Point (UNCTAD) for the Canary Islands.

Graduate of Warsaw School of Economics and Universidad de Valencia, also holds an MBA of the University of Minnesota. Broad experience in the financial industry both in Poland and Spain, have worked among others in Shell, Bloomberg and PKO Bank Polski.

Vice-President of the Polish-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce (PPCC) - in the Representation of Bank Millennium. Holds a graduation in Economics (by Universidad do Porto - Portugal) and post-graduations in Management (INSEAD and AESE Business School). Working in Poland since 2002. Professional career in Banking Sector – mainly in Corporate Banking, Strategic Credit Projects and Credit Decision/Risk/Analysis. Has been a speaker at several conferences/seminars held in Poland and in Portugal concerning bilateral Business / Cooperation.

John Rendall Vice President of Management Board & Chief Executive Officer , HSBC Bank Polska SA John Rendall has been appointed as Vice President of the Management Board and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HSBC Bank Polska SA, effective July 1 2012. John is primarily responsible for the bank’s business lines - Commercial and Global Banking as well as Global Markets. John has been with HSBC for 26 years now, 20 of which he spent holding a variety of functions across corporate and business banking within Commercial Banking Line in the United Kingdom. Prior to joining HSBC in Poland, he spent three years as CEO in Scotland.

John studied Economics at St Andrews University and Queen Mary College, University of London, UK. He enjoys listening to music, all types of wildlife, travel, and hill-walking.

ADAM P. ŚWIRSKI Vice President of the Management Board Adam P. Świrski graduated from the Banking Academy in Vienna. He also holds a degree from the Applied Linguistics Department of Warsaw University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota and the Warsaw School of Economics. He has worked in the banking sector for more than 20 years and has held managerial positions in a number of financial institutions. From 2007 to 2009 he was responsible for risk at HSBC Bank Polska S.A. and from 2009 to 2013 at Deutsche Bank Polska Group.

PATRICK WALSH has been Director of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Regions Financing Department, in the European Investment Bank (“EIB”), since May 2009. Mr Walsh, an Irish National, joined the EIB in 1983, in the Monitoring Department of the Directorate for Operations outside the Community, working on the monitoring of development finance banks throughout the ACP and Mediterranean regions. From 1986 to 1992, he worked as a loan officer for the former Federal Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia and Turkey, plus Cyprus and Malta, before moving to EIB Lending Operations in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Territories. He became Head of the Mashreq Division in 1995. Five years later, he became Head of the Western Balkans and Turkey Division, helping to launch the new “FEMIP” facility for the Euro-Mediterranean region in 2002-2003. In 2004, he was appointed Associate Director, and was Alternate Director for the EIB on the Board of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) during 2004/05. In September 2005, he became Head of the “JASPERS” (Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions) technical assistance for project preparation facility. Prior to joining the EIB, Mr Walsh worked for the Irish Development Bank (ICC), the Investment Bank of Ireland and the Irish Civil Service in various ministries. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and an Associate of the Irish Institute of Bankers.
