Function: Sales Disaster: Virus Infection Scenario: Database Server Destroyed Scenario Overview: A virus has infected our

database server causing it to crash and lose data. Customers cannot process their sales through the client program

Recovery Time Objective: 60 minutes after the disaster is declared

Recovery Steps:◦ Cut the main network and determine which

systems are infected and which are not◦ Roll out backup server(s) and reload

software/data using back up information replacing infected systems

◦ Insure virus definition databases on all machines are up to date

◦ Restore main network and reconnect all systems. Test functionality

Function: Internet Routing Disaster: Generator explosion Scenario: Major router Scenario Overview: Due to the generator

explosion the major router is destroyed. All communications are cut off between the Head office and remote servers

Recovery Time Objective: from 8 to 24 hours

Recovery Steps:◦ Inspect the building◦ Call the BCP team to review the plan and take

proper actions◦ Configure a temporary router from a spare server◦ Contact suppliers and order a new router◦ Configure/test new router (once delivered) and

put it back online◦ Estimate damages and repair building if

neccessary
