About the LDCThe Larrakia Development Corporation was officially incorporated under ASIC in February 2002. The Board and management of the Corporation are led by members of the Traditional Owner group of Darwin, the Larrakia people.

Today the Corporation is regarded as one of Australia’s leading commercial Aboriginal organisations. It provides employment and business opportunities for Larrakia people through its own wealth creation and entrepreneurial activities.

The prime objective of the Larrakia Development Corporation is to create economic opportunities for all Larrakia people through the creation and operation of sustainable businesses models, and the maintenance of the Larrakia Development Trust.

The Larrakia Development Corporation’s core activities include land holdings and development, property development, heritage monitoring, ground maintenance, and landscaping.

The Corporation’s Board is focused on viable commercial outcomes, the settlement of the Kenbi Land Claim, reinvesting and building the company, adherence to the Larrakia Development Trust, maintaining our Larrakia Distribution Policy, and promoting employment and business opportunities for Larrakia people.

Larrakia TrustIn addition to the LDC’s Distribution Policy assisting Larrakia to ease the financial burden of such things as funerals, financial assistance to our Elders and sponsorships, the LDC has taken the innovative commercial approach to establish the Larrakia Trust (LT). The LT provides opportunity for Larrakia TraditionalOwners to become unit holders in broad businessdevelopment initiatives throughout the Northern Territory and interstate, ensuring an even greater spread of direct economic benefit back to Larrakia families through the distribution of dividends.

The LDC acts as trustee for the LT and works to ensureLarrakia people receive preferential status for employment or business development opportunities associated with the LDC.
