Treasurers Report For 1997/98
I am pleased to be able to present to you my first report as Treasurer of the Club.
The year was the first one under the new Executive Committee structure of the Cluband as a Committee we decided that the financial management of the Club would not
be delegated to a Sub Committee but be fully dealt with at each meeting of theExecutive Committee.
As such, detailed reporting of the Club financial affairs was made at each ExecutiveCommittee meeting and the appropriate focus was given to " finance " by the completeCommittee.
1996/97 and 1997/98 Audit:
The audit of the accounts relating to two years ago is not yet completed as the auditorshave not yet received all the information they require for them to undertake a complete
audit.
Due to the above it is not possible for me, as the current Treasurer, to finally completethe accounts for 1997/98 as I do not have confirmed / audited figures from which to
use as opening balances for the 1997/98 year.
Apart from the above, all the information is ready to be given to the Auditors but atthis stage they need to complete the previous audit before they undertake last yearsaudit.
Statement of Cash Receipts andI Payments:
From the Clubs point of view our survival is based on the ability to obtain funds fromvarious sources and then using such to pay for the necessary purchases undertakenduring the year - in other words having money in the bank.
Making a profit during the year is as much decided by the accountants / auditors as it is
decided by our ability to gain funding and using such wisely - we may well make aprofit but still be in short of funds and vice versa.
As such the Executive Committee has decided that the attached Statement is just as
important as the those presented in the past and probably provides to members a betterunderstanding of the finances of the Club.
The attached, along with the other financial statements will therefore be provided toauditors for their verification - as such please note that the attached is not yet audited.
I table my report for your consideration.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
In reviewing the past season the club has made strong progress into streamlining the management
stmcture which has worked in some areas and not in others. This structure »s under review at the
moment. Results wise - not a great year and we look forward to improved results and dedication
from senior players next season. Social grade teams appeared to enjoy themselves during the
season, but the club could do with your support up the clubrooms for after match drinks, etc. The
junior section of the club remains very stong although there was a drop off in registrations from
the previous season. The junior section needs to remain in a sound position both financially and
numbers so that the senior club can continue to provide the necessary support.
The club remains financially sound and we look forward to additional sponsorship (ifobtainable)for next season to provide the players with the facilities and gear which is so necessary in todays
playing environment. At time of writing there were no definite plans of amalgamation but we are
hopeful of talking to 1 or 2 clubs over the next few weeks.
The 8 Team Senior Competition looms over us for the 1999/2000 season with the criteria ofobtaining a spot not yet defined by the C.C.A. Finishing the 1998/1999 season in the sameposition as last year would definitely not enhance our chances. Lets get it together at the 2 day
game guys!!!
The viability of the indoor practice facilities in the old nursery building coming to fi-uition is stillbeing investigated with costings, management, usage and availability all being seriously consideredat this present point of time. Re-designing our alteration looks most likely to keep development
costs down. You will be advised of progress.
As always the club continues to strive for additional sponsors, be it large or small and if there areany players who can contribute to sponsorship through their employer please let a member of theexecutive know.
Look forward to seeing as many as possible at the A.G.M.
Ray Burgess
President
Junior Section
Once again the strength of our club was within our Junior ranks. Wehad over 500 boys and girls playing either Friday night Kiwi cricket orSaturday morning cricket.
Two bonuses for the Junior section was the Introduction of Friday nightKiwi cricket and the U14 boys team playing in the High School section. These were such a success that we will expand on this for next season.
Several of our boys and girls made various representative sides, welldone to Michael Newell, Chris Lumsden and Sara Coughlan.
I would like to take this opportunity and thank all the coaches, managersand parents who have supported the club during the season.

C APTAINS REPORT 97/98 SEASON
The 97/98 senior cricket season ^ as one of many ups and downs, personal triumplis and
disappointments. Once again Bumside showed its strength in tlie one day arena, finisliingsecond to the all conquering Riccarton side through the round robin stage only to fail at thefinals stages of the competition, notably the semi-final against Riccarton when we could onlymuster 32.
The two-day competition was less impressive this year. over 30 players were used at somestage throughout the season, imd therefore \ve lacked the consistency, stability and close-knit
togethemess which is required for a successful side. Initially changes were due to injuries(afew broken bones), however as the season progressed it was more due to lack of dedicationand/or motivation.
The poor performance of our two-day game is reflected in the end of year stats. Only twofifties were scored in the entire season, with the highest score 54. Only four of our batsmcnscored over 200 runs with no one exceeding 250 runs. Our howling was our strength with
tlu-ee players picking up live wickel bags. ho\ve'^ •er no one bowler was consistent. Ourbatting improved during the one-day compelition. Mark Hnstings and Campbell Ogiliveboth scoring centuries in consecutive matches and (Tcrald Burrell with 17 wickets and
Graham White with 16 wickets \verc ;unong (he leading wicket takers in the grade.
Tlie biggest disappointment of the year from my point of view was tlie lack of responsibilityshown by some of the more established players and the inability of the younger players tolearn from the experiences gained at playing senior cricket. For our club to succeed we need
more eommitmenl from all players and a change in attitude with respect to our application
towards the game.
1 hope to see our entire squad relnm tbr the up coming season ;ind produce the results which
\ve know \ve are capable of.
Good luck to the other sides in the club for the 98 99 season.
Matthew Everest.
Acting Senior Captain.
SENIOR REPORT 97/98
HAPPENINGS
It was a season of highs and lows but unfortunately more lows than highs. I have had someinvolvement with senior cricket for nearly 30 years and it is sad to see the standard decline to its
current low levels. There are many reasons for this decline and the Adams Report outlines these.Let us hope the changes being made by the CCA improve the situation. It is important for the
future of Canterbury and New Zealand cricket that we have a strong senior competition.
During the season Andrew Sherwood announced his retirement from senior cricket. Andrew's
career spanned 12 seasons. During that time he played 140 matches and scored nearly 4000 runs
(including 21 50'sand2 100's). He took 68 catches and 12 dismissals as a wicketkeeper. He
was a very good driver of the ball through the off side and puller of the ball through the leg side.'Stumpy' as he is widely known will be remembered for many things including his personable
nature. He was a very well liked member of the senior team. But on the cricket field he will be
remembered as someone who liked a scrap. He played much of his best cricket when the teams
back was to the wall. It took him 9 seasons to score his first senior hundred, then scoring 2
hundreds on the one weekend. His only 2 senior hundreds. Although there is the famous time
when the captain declared when Andrew was on 98. A situation he took amazing well. A good
example of his fighting qualities and courage was when he badly injured his leg in the TrustbankCup Final against Riccarton in 94-95 season and could not field. He then opened the innings and
scored a very valuable 37. Andrew was the captain that year and led the lads to Auckland for the
club finals. The team finished on unlucky second - still by far the best effort by any Canterbury
team in that competition. Andrew was named batsman of the tournament.
In the Trustbank Cup competition the team was second after the round robin stage. However,
both semi finals when lost which effectively put us third. However this effort continues the grand
tradition of this club being the best one day side in the history of the Trustbank Cup.
I was going to outline situations where teams, both us and the opposition, had collapses.
Situations where teams lose 3 or 4 wickets for 0,1,2, or not many mns. But, honestly, there are
too many instances to make mention of them all. Some of the more interesting/bizzare cases
were-
(1) In the 1 dayer against Old Colls - they were 2nd for 4 wickets. Both the runs were wides.
Graeme White opened the bowling and took wickets with his first 2 balls (0/2 after 2 balls). Thefirst 4 batsmen in the order got ducks.
(2) On the second day of the game against Old Colls, 14 wickets fell before lunch. Both sideslosing 7 wickets. Old Colls losing 6/14 at one point. At lunch we were 51/7.
(3) In the 2 dayer against Marist we set them 39 to win. We were in with a shout when Marist
.were 20/7.
(4) The last day of the season probably summed things up. HSOB in their second innings were17/5 - they battled through to 72/6 then lost their last 4 wickets for 5 runs. Chasing 162 we were28/8 and finally all out for 53.
In the first one dayer against Riccarton we lost 6 for 10 at one point. But this did not prepare usfor the semi final debacle in which we were dismissed for 33. The clubs lowest score in TrustbankCup history. Luckily Marist scored 32 earlier in the season or we would have held the record forthe all time lowest score. Fall of wickets were 8 - 10 - 11 - 14 - 26-28-28-29 - 33. So we lost
3 for 4 (10-11-14) then 6 for 7 at the end. Neil Maxwell took 4/19 off 10 and Wayne Stead 5/14
off9-3. Our top score was 7 (Matt Everest and Mark Coster). There were 4 ducks. Riccartonscored the runs in 4-1 overs for no loss. Game over in 1 3/4 hours approx.
Centuries were scored in the Cup competition on 2 consecutive weekends (24 January and 3 1January). Campbell Ogilvie scoring his first senior hundred when he hit 102 v Old Colls and
figuring in a 111 partnership with Kristian Nuttall. Mark Hastings equalled his previous best of102* v HSOB and figured in an unbeaten 134 in partnership with Matt Everest. Mark's inningswas one of the best 1 have seen in senior cricket. His 50 took 35 minutes and 31 balls with 11 4'sand his 100 took 83 minutes and 73 balls with 20 4's. Matt only scored 26* but manipulated thebowlers well so that Mark could get his 100 before we reached HSOB's score. These were the
7th and 8th Trustbank Cup centuries for the club with Mark joining Russell Hadlund with 2centunes.
The above partnerships were the only 2 100 partnerships. There were 7 other partnerships over
50. Interesetingly there were no 50 partnerships after 31-1-98 when batting should be at its
easiest. When Campbell scored his 100 we scored 203. This was the teams only score over 200.
There were 3 scores of over 200 against us.
During mid February to mid March two of our promising all founders were having bad cases of
the batting blues. Kristian Nuttall who topped the Trustbank Trophy batting averages in 1996-97had a sequence of 'scores' of0-0-0-0-0*-0 and 0. During that period Dominic Maxwell scoredpairs in 2 consecutive Trophy games and a 'duck' in the semi final v Riccarton.
Talking of ducks, the team brought up a half century they are not happy about by recording 51ducks. Campbell Ogilvie registered 7 with Graeme White, Kristian Nuttall and Dominic Maxwell
6 each. There were 38 ducks recorded by opposition teams against us. We scored 4 pairs. In253 completed innings we scored 150 scores under 10 or 59.3% of innings. The opposition
recorded 123 scores under 10 in 224 completed innings or 54.9%.
Campbell Ogilvie had an interesting season. As well as scoring a Cup century and another 50+
the leading scorer of ducks he also took 3 5 wicket bags in Trophy cricket. He deservedly won
the teams 'Player of the Year' award. He also now holds the record for most expensive bowling
in a Trustbank Cup game for the club. Against Riccarton he started offpromisingly enough witha maiden over and had 0/21 after 5 overs. Then all hell broke loose - his next two overs went for
15 then 7 then 14. The main destroyer was Neil Maxwell who scored 57* ofF30 balls. In the
process putting the scorers livers at risk at Hagley Park 3. Campbell ended with figures of9-1-72-0. This 'beat' Jason Nuttal's 10-0-65-3. Campbell is also 3rd equal on the list with
10-0-64-1 v WWMC in 1996-97.
It was good to see a couple of old stagers in Grant Dickson and Andrew Hintz turning outduring the season. Grant actually topped the 2 day batting averages with his one innings. Hisprevious best placings were 5th in 2 day and 3rd in I day. Andrew Hintz took one more Cupwicket to take him to 96. He remains 4th on our list behind Steve Hawker on 97 and Gerald
Barrett and Hamish Kember who both have 118.
In the game against Sydenham the wicket keeping duties were shared between Matt Everest and
Jonathan Rea. Unusually both players took a 'catch in the field'. Very confusing when you are
not at the game and trying to distinguish wicket keeping dismissals from catches in the field
statistics.
Two bizarre incidents during the year involved Gerald Barrett. Due to a misunderstanding he was
selected for a trophy game but at no stage was he anywhere near the ground. The team had to
play with 10 players and Gerald gets credited with a game. In the last game of the season players
were allowed to be replaced to attend a wedding Grand Dickson replaced Gerald Barrett. Both
players took an active part in (he game on (he same day!!! The circumstances were unusual in
both cases and should in no way reflect badly on Gerald as he was not at fault.
In repsect of individual placings overall the players best performances were predictably in the Cupcompetition. Hamish Kember's 1.72 mns per over was the number 1 performance overall just
ahead of Carl Anderson (E-S). Mark Hastings was 5th and Gerald Barrett 9th in the mosteconomical bowling stats: Gerald Barrett was 3rd overall in the Cup bowling averages withHamish Kember 9th and Mark Hastings 10th. Gerald's 17 wickets were the 7th equal mostwickets taken. We had 2 of the 9 hundred partnersips in the Cup, with the 134 unbeatenpartnership between Matt Everest and Mark Hastings 2nd best and the 111 partnership betweenCampbell Ogilvie and Kristian Nuttall 7th. Kristian NuttalPs 6 catches was 4th equal best withHamish Kember's 5 placing him 6th equal. Matt Everest's 223 runs placed him 10th on the
batting aggregates. There were 6 centuries in the Cup with Mark and CampbelPs being 4th and5th highest. In Trophy cricket we figured in the bowling stats only. Taking into account theminimum wicket requirements, Hamish Kember was 3rd, Mark Hastings 4th and Graeme White
9th in the bowling averages. Campbell Ogilvie was 1 Oth equal in the bowling aggregates.

Second Grade Report 1997/1998
The season was a disappointing one following our excellent previous year. We could only manage one win and a draw out
ol'the nine two dayers and two wins out of the nine one dayers (although we did beat Riccarton, the one day champions).
A combination of things lcd lo these results -
• Using a total of 35 players in the season (including a young and upcoming pair of junior cricketers - RayBurgess/Bryce McKenzie - keep an eye on this pair!!)
• At times not being able to put a full team on the park (5 games). Against Old Coils we batted and fielded with 7players!!
• Struggling to post competitive totals.• Struggling to bowl sides out.Hut saying all that, those who did play gave it their best and v/e all enjoyed it both on and off the park.
Trying to write a report for a team should not be a problem but when you have virtually fielded 3 teams in a season it'sharder. Highlights from our season include -
© Dave Alien's 121 no (25 x 4) vs Old Coils out of a total of 18916 when we had only 7 players.© Alan Thompson's double of 66 and 52no vs Lancaster Park (52 off 28 balls, 9x4, 1 x 6) and 88 vs St Albans (8 x
4,5x6).© Johnny Rea's 87no vs Lancaster Park on his debut and his consistent run getting and keeping thereafter.© Blair Wiimott's run of form in the 2nd half of the season including a dazzling 62 vs Old Colls following his
purchase of a new bat - great bat Ricky!
© Barry Davies' saying he wants to bowl offspin and going for 26 off 2 overs, then goes to Auckland, probably stillchasing the ball.
C-) Anron Phcips - Not being ;iblc to bowl more than 3 overs in a spell, so left to go on sushi diet in Japan!(•3 Dave Vince - Returning to club this season and making immediate impact. Hit on the helmet vs Riccarton,
concussed and then Fielded at short leg. Gutsy effort that. Gave it everything and more. Also won UN/, bannercompetilion (And tliun (ioi.1 created the Rev ... ).
0 l.in McAlavey - Never g;ive up. Our players' player of the year even after 8 ducks. Great teet for Fielding!© Mark Waugh - Sorry, Cosier. Bigfelia. Looked great. Made catches look great. Made batting look easy. Mr
Cool.
© Johnny Shone - Welcomed back into the team last few rounds of season. Inspirational!! Never let team mates
down. Missed Dom and Nutts though.© Ben Sharp - Our floating all-rounder, always prepared to give his best. Who will ever forget that
35 vs Riccarton (7 x 4) and 5/52 off 5 vs Marist?© Rob Wilson-Pynu - Our uxpress bowler. Give him the ball and things happen dropped catches, wickets
and runs - the full works from Robbo!! And what a spell vs Sydenham 7/6/1/13. Fantastic!© Mark Lumsden - We did not see a lot of Mark this season and greatly missed him as catches win matches.
Always positive, and plenty of ideas for the skipper.© Curlos Prowse - llie iclnrn of our English pro, Robin Hood, for the fast few weeks of the season helped lead the
Merry Men. Almost ambushed a few clubs.
© And finally the Captain who somehow managed to bore 43 players out. Got his bowlers to bow! short spells
except himself!
Thanks to everyone who played this season and lei's all hope things get better next time.
Winter wull.

Burnside West Third GradeThe third grade team this season was made up of two entirely different teams from before and after theChristmas break. Rob Wilson Pyne, Simon McFedries and later Tim Saunders captained the team. Thekey issue this year was the lack of players. Despite many all week efforts to find people to play we oftenended up fielding a team of nine or 10 players. This in turn made it very difficult to play an attackingstyle of cricket, often costing our bowlers the wickets they deserved. We met some good and wellestablished teams this season including East Shirley, St Albans and Sydenham. Unfortunately, poorbatting meant that we didn't manage to win a game during the year, this being an aspect of play thateveryone needs to work on. Wicketkeeping this year was taken on by Tim Saunders who enjoyed thetask once again. There were pleasing individual performances during the year from Craig Squire andSam Dean (the recipients of our team's player of the season), Kane Erickson and the useful bowling ofGareth Hay. Thanks go to Matthew Smith for taking on the mid off fielding position and affirming it ashis, as well as Patrick Johnson for presenting himself in no matter what condition. The core of this teamhas been together for over five years now and we all enjoy just turning up to play cricket. We lookforward to next season with any player additions as a result of amalgamation.
Cavaliers Report 97/98
After a year oflTit was decided to resurrect the victorious grade winning side of 96/96 for anothershot at the title. Despite a wealth of talent we stmggled to put wins together and by the time werealised we weren't playing in an eight a side competition the title was gone. The impossibledream was over, the fat lady had sung, we were no longer top of the pops, we sucked.
Is this the end of an era9 Are this once magnificent bunch of cream flanneled warriors now
consigned to long summers of mowing lawns, family days at the beach, morning rounds of goldand mid afternoon barbeques'7 1 hope so.
In a season that read like some sick Greek Tragedy, some of the principal players exploits arelisted below:
Andrew Hintz - followed his own literary advise and "churned out runs like a sausage machine".
Grant Dickson - carved up opposition bowling attacks like Jeffrey Dahmer at a Boy Scouts
picnic.
Steven Jeffrey - a lawyer whose legal briefs were never as brief as his innings.
Chris Kennedy - more not outs than a homophobic convention.Russell Haglund - who despite a sensitive and rather embarassing condition stood astride the
grade A colossus - the colossus of'Raids''.
Andrew Sherwood - whose penchant for scoring 30 somethings was thankfully confined to the
cricket field.Tony Hawker - whose bowling drew comparison with the great "Sir Richard" - not Hadlee but
Sir Richard Dormer, the famed 16th century philosopher, poet and dwarf.Mike Hastings - whose thoughtful and insightful analysis ofon-field situations was always
welcomed.
Thanks also to those who filled in during the year and who are listed in the averages.

BURNS1DE SIXTH GRADE TEAM REPORT 97/98
Another year has passed and our progression up the points table has come to a stand still until thenext season. Actually looking back at the season I don't think the progression really started.
However, the team enjoyed some fine moments both on and ofTthe field. All 30 players we used
contributed to the side in some way mostly at afler-match functions though as there were only a
couple of stand out performances over the season. A century each to Crash and Rawdy were the
batting highlights and 4 wickets in an innings to Whitsy, Tilhy and Sqnid. The fielding generallykept everyone amused except for the two games against Riccarton where we managed to excel.
A quick report on the seasons core of players with trophies collected at the prize giving.
Rowdy - 'Player of the Year' after a slow start to the season perfomed with both bat and ball, still
managed to receive award for 'Most Lethargic Fielder of the Year', an interesting combination.
Whitsy - 'Bowler of the Year' - 16 wickets for the season, new run up helped out, as alwaysgreat performances at the after match.
Sprotty - 'Fielder of the Year' - the Chris Harris of the side NOT afraid to put his body on the
line, just a pity when he dives he needs a hand to get up of the ground.
Wheels - 'Team Man of the Year' - played all but one of 20 games. Also played with wrist inplaster for last month. We probably don't have to mention how he broke his wrist though.
Angry - 'Most Improved Player' for a person who swung and missed more than he connectedlast season, this season he was able to hold the team together on more than one occassion.
Wal - 'Scorer of the Year' for an accountant we would hope he doesn't have to do two things at
once.
Loads - 'Team Co-ordinator' - he has to get into the team some how. With him being a selector
he manages to get in most weeks.
Whoppa - 'Most Disappointing Cricketer of the Year' - the cricketer who when is good isexcellent but when is bad is real bad, just ask him how he fielded against East Shirley.
Next season with a bit of recruiting and oflF season training we hope to come back bigger and
stronger, fitter but probably not too much better, as it would take the enjoyment out of taking the
mickey out of everyone.
Until next season the team wishes everyone the best of luck for the winter months.

Burnside West University Cricket ClubSeventh Grade Cricket Team: End of year report
The BWUCC seventh grade team was in a perpetual rebuilding period in the1997/98 season. With mixed emotions of passion for cricket andconsumption of alcohol, it was a recipe for disaster. The break down of theteams performance was not as bleak however as it sounds. In the games
leading up to the Christmas break, Burnside only lost 2 games which were by21 and 35 runs respectively. The regrouping of players in the new yearresulted in 'on field' enthusiasm that was brought to the team by players suchas Todd, Campbell and Henderson. Bumside however lost more games than
it won and found itself relegated to the second division of the seventh grade. The season can't be written off as a waste of energy, as undoubtedly every
team member looked forward to the weekend, when on Saturday afternoon
they got to play their summer game. It was a steep learning curve.
Notable player mentions are as follows:Andrew Banfield:
Amon Martin:Duncan George:
Greg Brocherie:
Peter Knight:
Nominated players choice for Best Batsman.
Av 39.56. Elegance, and shot selection supreme.A solid middle order batsman.
Our contracted opening bowler, A gem, A top find.A real contributor on and off the field. The cement on the team who stood up in crunchtime. Dominated the close in fielding. Well knownfor his "Grizzly Bear" impersonations.
His presence in the top order commanded respect.
Mission: take the shine from the new ball.
As a unit, Smith, Connors, Taylor, and Peake worked cohesively with the ballto tie down batsmen, and often forced dismissals through frustration. TheSummer of '97/'98 will be used as a benchmark against all other seventhgrade teams will be measured. This squad of cricketers will be foreverimmortalised as "The Pretenders", and they will be remembered for the
dedication, blood, sweat and tears that every man pumped into Burnside
cricket at the "grassroots" level.
BWUCC 7th Grade Squad:Michael Taylor (c), Michael Peake, Andrew Banfield (vc), Andrew Todd, PeterKnight (vc), Paul Harrison, Craig McCleiland, Duncan George, Antonio Burns,Matthew Smith. Geoff Mitchetl, Ben 'sub fielder' Whitham, Chris Connors, BenCampbell, Scott Henderson, Greg Brocherie, Bruce, Mark Chris Carter, lan
McGregor, Ben Harland, Amon Martin.
Burnside West Presidents Grade
A season that started so promisingly, waned somewhat after Xmas. Instead of competing in Section one, we ended up
coming second in Section two with some disappointing results. However some of our better performances were againstsome of the stronger teams - none more so than the win against Lane Park A. With seven guys unavailable we posted207/2 and then kept the pressure on and bowled them out for 186.
During the season two centuries were scored - Robbie 1 1 6 and Bryce I 1 2 not out. Best Bowling was by Bobby with"5/17.
BRYCE - Opened the batting, scoring over 800 runs. Managed to take 22 catches still dropped a few excelled over the
phone.
ROBBIE- Always tidy behind the stumps but superb with the bat. A memorable 1 1 6 against Syd A in an opening
partnership of 201.
MURRA Y- Batted outstandingly before Xmas and but for a plumbers knee would have scored heaps more. bowled
consistently.BOBBY- Played in every game and bowled almost 200 overs. Always bowled well but at times was outstanding.
RA Y- This was his season. Incredibly consistent and demanding. Easily our most economical bowler - who can
forget his ]0.8.8.3. Also took his chnnccs with tlic bat, opening on a number of occasions.ERIC - Took 36 wickets @ 17.8 with a best o('4/l 7. Also took some superb diving catches at slip - not bad at the age
of 59.MIKE- Took 19 wickets and was very safe in the field. Didn't get going with the bat but will score more next season.
PAVL - The best I'd seen him bat (or years. A wonderful 52 vs Sumner that secured victory. Safe pair of hands.
JOHN - A clean hitter ofthe ball who unfortunately didn't stay longer at the crease. Needs to warm up those hammies.
DEAN - His fitness may have been in question at the start, but Dean has worked incredibly hard and is now somewhat
22KG lighter. Always gave his best nnd nlrcndy rating to go for next season. HS 3 1.
BRENT-Very promising newcomer. Good timer of the ball and loved to crash it back past the bowler. Very
consistent and averaged 23.7.RICHARD - New to the team. The quickest bowler we had by far who had limited opportunities. Very safe in the
field and a handy fill in keeper.GRAHAM- A penchant for not cuts. Batted consistently and will be contracted next season.DA VE - Only played 5 games. Injury restricted further appearances. His old gloves have finally been put to rest after 25 years. We look forward to the next 25 with renewed interest. Yes Foxy, you were underbowled.
I hope everyone enjoyed their season and our off the field activities. Thanks to our hosts Chris & Jaine for our Feb BBQ and toMike & Steph for our end of season do. A further thanks to the team in their efforts in once again running the Club GolfTournament at Hororata.
I appreciated all the support given me over the last two seasons and 1 took forward to doing the same to my successor.
