2001 Master Plan Proposals
James St (southern footpath): Improve vegetation by providing new trees and low planting, extra seats, rubbish bins, and new paving features in extended areas and driveways. Provide new kerb and channel to all footpath extent. Existing pavers are to be recycled. Create two new footpath build outs including dense low height vegetation, benches, rubbish bins, and feature lighting. The rest of the parallel parking remains as is.
James St (northern footpath): Existing footpath width is to remain as is except for the proposed build out areas. Install new and recycled planters; provide extra seats, rubbish bins, and new paving features to extended areas and driveways. Existing paving materials are to remain as they are. Create two new footpath build outs including dense low height vegetation, benches, rubbish bins, and feature lighting. Allow for possible installation of public art, new paving design and finishes, low height, dense and tree planting. Angled parking otherwise remains as is.

James St and Connor St intersection (both corners): Improve amenity by increasing low height, dense planting, provide new benches, new paving finishes, feature lighting and low wall features. Allow for possible installation of public art.
Connor St (between Park Av. And Gold Coast Hwy): Provide shade trees, planting on the ground, new paving features, seats, and rubbish bins where possible.

2 Design Options to consider:
OPTION 1 = Original build out proposals from 2001/2002 Master Plans, updated to 2008 standards.
OPTION 2 = Relocate powerlines underground + mid – way crossing point for pedestrian safety
AIMS:vibrancy & activity of Connor Street continued into James Street – opportunities for outdoor dining improved amenity and aesthetics in whole of Burleigh Heads Commercial Town Centre
