• 2.2. Breeding Pipeline

2.2.1 Develop short duration (SD) breeding lines with moderate levels of resistance to rust, ELS Burkina Faso: 15 Lines

2.2.2. Develop SD and aflatoxin resistant annually and once in project life for Burkina Faso: 10 Lines

2.2.3. Develop SD and drought-tolerant breeding lines for Burkina Faso : 20 varieties SD & 5 drought-tolerant

2.2.4 Develop medium duration breeding lines (high levels of Rust and LLS, GRD and other stresses)for Burkina Faso: 34 varieties

2.3. Testing for Release

2.3.3. FPVS trials conducted in each Tier 1 (Nigeria, Burkina Faso), each year involving at least 30% women farmers:

- 5(3) zones (Kaya, Tenkodogo, Léo, Koudougou, Pouni) 4 sites par zone

- ONG and FO as partners: Fert, ATAD, Fédération Nian Zwé (FNZ), APSERN, Agro Tech, Agents Agri

2.4. Best Bet Varieties 2.4.1. / 2. Produce and make available breeder seed of at least one best bet variety in each Tier 1 (Nigeria, Burkina Faso) each year.

Pour chacune des 3 variétés vulgarisées (SH 470P; QH 243C et SH 67A), au moins 500 à 800kg de pré-base sont produites chaque année.

A partir de 2017 la pré-base de 5 à 8 meilleures sera produite chacune sur 0,25 ha. Cela permettra d’obtenir par variété, 400 à 500 kg. Ainsi, 3 à 4 tonnes de pré-base seront produites en dehors des pré-bases des variétés vulgarisées.

• By this way, about 32 – 40 tonnes of fondation seed can be get after rainy saison 2017. And at least 320 – 400 tonnes of certified seed might be produce by farmers & agro dealer on 2018.
