SundayYour chauffeured private car meets you at your Parishotel, airport arrivals, or station. Usual pick up timeof 2pm.

Arrive to Clamecy, (pop’ 4,500) an old town nestledin rolling landscape of the Nievre region fromwhence the Nivernais canal gets its name. Welcomeaboard with champagne and fait maison gougérepastries. Take a walk into Clamecy with windingcobbled streets and magnificent 16c church StMartin. Clamecy was also the seat of the bishop ofBethlehem for 600 years and a centre of logging for400, now a picturesque town with a museum of theregion and good restaurants.

Evening dining at 2 pieces cuisine; a small andcharming restaurant set in the 15c old town bankbuilding. Select from a short menu of excellentseasonal dishes.

MondayWe depart at 9am and descend the town lock ontothe river Yonne and then onto the Nivernais canal,the morning cruise takes us past the limestone cliffsof Basville and 15c fortified farm. After stopping forlunch we continue to our destination of the day Lucy-sur-Yonne (pop’ 151) with 11c church, river, and oldmill pond nearby.

Our guided afternoontour takes you toVezelay, an UNESCOworld heritagesite, fortified town,and grand basilicadedicated to MaryMagdalen which is saidto contain her relic.Stroll the pretty streets

with many boutique shops, café’s, and restaurants.

Return to the Randle and dine with the captain enfamilie at le Clos farm house* in the village Lucy,where you will be warmly welcomed and dine intraditional Burgundian style.

Thursday9am departure from our mooring as we cruise alongthe Yonne valley with vineyards coming into view onthe hillsides above. After lunch we moor on the riverat Vincelles overlooking a watermill with vineyards inthe distance.

Take our afternoon guided tour to the pretty winevillagesof Irancy and Chitry to try local redsmade fromPinot and Cesar grape varietiesor if you prefer white, atrip to the famousvinesof Chabliswith guided tour ofthe grand-cru vineyardsand a degustation in the town.

Evening dining aboard the Randle; our chef preparesa delicious three course dinner complemented withtwo bottles of excellent local wine.

WednesdayToday ismorning market day at the plus beau villageof Noyers-sur-Serein. A very picturesque fortifiedvillage with 15c timber framed houses with intricatecarvings, home to many artists, potter, jeweller andleather maker. Stroll the cobbled streets and marketstalls, buy a little something for friends back home.

After lunch aboard the Randle we make our wayalong winding canal and river Yonne to the prettycanal side Village of Accolay (pop’ 467) once famousfor its unique pottery.

Evening dining at the Hostellerie-de-la-fontaine*,a surprisingly good find in such a quiet villagewith elegant under-croft restaurant or al fresco onbalmy evenings.

Tuesday9am and we set off along the meandering canal pasthilltop villages and the magnificent white coral cliffsof Rochers-du-Saussois. After lunch we arrive at thefoot of the hilltop village of Mailly-le-Chateau (pop’567) with 14c Chateau perched in the very edge of atall escapement, and fortified 13c church.

Afternoon guided tourto the limestone cavesof the Grottes-de-Arcy,a fascinating cavesystem which runs forover 500m under thehillside and containsmany 28,000 year oldPalaeolithic paintingsrepresenting Bears,Rhino, and Mammoth.

Evening dining aboard the Randle; our chef preparesa delicious three course dinner complemented withtwo bottles of excellent local wine.

Auxerre has been aprosperous town sinceroman times and isdominated by the 11-16c St Étienne cathedralbuilt on the highground overlookingthe river. Although abustling and moderntown it maintains its 15c

charm with many timber framed houses and prettystreets, a great place for shopping or just peoplewatching from one of the busy street side cafés

Evening dining in Auxerre La P’tite beusaude*;a charming small restaurant where the focus is ontraditional Burgundy cuisine.

SaturdayAfter breakfast aboard we bid you á bientót for yourchauffeured transfer to your Paris or Dijon hotel,station, or airport.

Friday9am The Randle departs, today we are cruising onthe river Yonne, with open vistas as we cruise past thepretty riverside villages of Bailly and Vaux, after lunchwe arrive to our destination, Auxerre (pop’ 45,000)
