Key Projects – Sixth Street Viaduct
• Built in 1932 & spans nearly 3,500 feet across the river.
• Largest bridge Replacement Project in the history of Los
Angeles due to a rare chemical reaction in the cement
supports and seismic vulnerability (Alkali-Silica Reaction).
• The project is ongoing and is expected to be completed in
2019.
Sixth Street Viaduct Replacement Project

Key Projects – LA Convention Center
• First opened to the public in 1971.
• Largest convention center in the U.S. to be LEED-EB
(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for
Existing Buildings) Gold certified.
• Expansion and Modernization Project is in conceptual
design phase
• City investigating Public/Private Partnership (P3) vs. City-
financed delivery method

Key Projects – Downtown Streetcar
• Will serve to unify Downtown Los Angeles as an
interconnected destination for living, working, and
enjoying leisure activities.
• Currently in the process of completing 30% design
• Collaboration with local community group - LASI, for
project delivery
Downtown Streetcar Project

Key Projects – LA River Revitalization
• The LA River flows 51 miles through the nation's 2nd-largest urban
agglomeration, 32 miles within the City of LA, and drains an 870
square-mile watershed, and directly connects to the world's largest
water body: the Pacific Ocean.
• With an implementation horizon of 20-50 years, the LA River
Revitalization Plan passed in 2007 recommends more than 240
projects.
• The Army Corps Feasibility Study will be in front of City Council this
Spring for 11 miles estimated at $1.3B.
• Sidewalk Repair Program ($1.367B over 30 years)
• Environmental Focus: LEED, Envision, Green Streets,
Stormwater Capture and Reuse
• BuildLA: Consolidated Permitting
• 3-D Printing
• Laser Scanner for Historical Preservation

Competitive Salary
• For Engineering graduates or EIT Certificate
holders, your starting salary is $66,231!
• Are you a registered Professional Engineer
with the CA State Board of Registration for
Professional Engineers? If so, your starting
salary will be at the II level, which is $74,082!
• Plus, everyone gets a salary increase of
2.75% after nine months of City service!
Then a step increase every year until you
reach the 12th step!

• There are at least 12 paid holidays of 8 hours each.
