I know that many of your neighbours and friends will have felt the effects of the recent fires, and this is not a pleasant feeling for anyone to endure. I want to thank you all for the support last week, firstly to those that enacted your own personal plans but diligently let us know that your children would not be attending. This helps us enormously in preparation for the day. You may not be aware but we also had teachers in the area who were evacuated or were unable to come to work due to the fire situation. Secondly, thanks to all the parents that sent your child to school, for trusting us with such precious possessions. We do have a well enacted fire plan and while we hope we never have to enact this in a real situation, we are confident that with our practice and advice from the CFA and Dept of Education, that we would be ok. Finally, Id like to remind parents that children watch and listen, they see images on the TV and hear the emergency reports etc that flood in in times like these. At times we can be unaware of how much they take in. Small children do not always have the maturity levels to deal with this information, and so it is worth the time to sit down with the kids and let them ask questions. Some children hold big fears about the unknown and they create their own stories to fill the gaps in their knowledge. We held an assembly last Monday morning with all kids present just to allay some of those fears. While discussing fears, we have a second Parent information session running tomorrow night. The session is about emotion coaching (something the teachers have been learning and practising for the past six weeks). I d encourage you all to come along and listen. The session begins at 7.00 pm and will be conducted by Lakeside Psychology. Lets hope that the rain helps to support our fire fighters and that the fire situation changes positively for all those affected. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT As I sit here in the office typing this week’s newsletter it is a wonderful relief to hear the rain falling.

Finally, I’d like to remind parents that children watch and listen, they see images on the TV and hear the emergency reports etc that flood in in times like these.

I’d encourage you all to come along and listen. The session begins at 7.00 pm and will be conducted by Lakeside Psychology.

Lets hope that the rain helps to support our fire fighters and that the fire situation changes positively for all those affected.
