Thanks to the P&C for your quick organisation, Lorraine and her band of helpers did an amazing job and it was lovely to have all our kids participating in a safe, respectful way. Big ones helping little ones. So many people gave their time to help, our thanks to the staff at Apollo House, Care West, Mission Australia, the development officers from Rugby Union Australia and our parents. Great to have you there. Education Week Thanks for helping us celebrate Education Week, it was wonderful to see so many people at our Eisteddfod performances and joining us in the open classrooms. We all certainly had a great time at the disco where we were joined by students who were in camp from Dubbo School of Distance Education. Class Captains Congratulations to our fabulous class captains for term three, we know you’ll do a great job. Tyson Power, Jayani Maharaj, Ashanti Hill, Chloe Lacrosse, Katey Parsons, Brinc Hill, Dudley Wood, Frances Manzano, Keira Whelan, Toby Pickering, Samira Ryan, Jeffrey Jones. The Australian Ballet Visit The Australian Ballet ran a series of workshops in the hall today for our students who participated in dance at the eisteddfod. It is always great to reward those students who participate in extra activities. Now the experts will show you their style and mentor you for next year. Demountable Update We have two demountables just about ready for the Support Classes. The rain has slowed down the process of installation but they do look amazing. The demountables are very large with great facilities inside including, their own complete reverse cycle air conditioning, bathroom and laundry. New technologies will be installed as soon as possible and all should be up and running in the next fortnight. The canteen building will arrive on Wednesday morning, we then just need to ensure a fit out. Unfortunately it is still too wet and therefore too dangerous, to bring in the last two demountables for the back area, but they should arrive soon. Fathers Day Stall We will be holding our annual Fathers Day Stall on Thursday 1 September. More details to come. PSSA District Carnival Permission notes will go home today for the PSSA District Carnival which is on Monday 15 August at DCL Park, (formerly called Barden Park). Competitors will need to make their own way to and from the carnival and must wear full school sports uniform. Competitors also need to be at the park at 8.30am to have their name marked off by Mrs Lyons. The day should conclude by 2.30pm. There will be a canteen available on the day. Week 4 Term 3 Tuesday 9 August 2016

We had a fantastic day on Friday at our Mini

Olympics Day. Thanks to the P&C for your quick

kids participating in a safe, respectful way. Big

Education Week

Thanks for helping us celebrate Education

Week, it was wonderful to see so many

BOOK WEEK FESTIVITIES

Monday 22 August to Friday 26 August

Book Week is just around the corner! The book

fair will be held in the school library for all of

week 6. Parents and carers are welcome to come

and purchase fantastic new books and stationery

after school until 3.15pm or before school on

Wednesday 24 August and Thursday 25 August.

Students can come along and purchase their own

books during lunch time each day. Start saving

your dollars!

Special visitors from within the community will

help celebrate reading by sharing their favourite

picture book with some classes. Keep a look out

for Bank Manger, Kevin Parker, David from

Uncle Petes and some local fireman, these are just

some of our wonderful community visitors.

On Thursday 25 August at 10.15am, students are

asked to come dressed as their favourite book

character or be a little more adventurous and come

dressed according to the theme,

‘AUSTRALIA -STORY COUNTRY’

(Hint … Sydney Opera House, Vegemite or

Australian animals from the classic story Possum

Magic ). Prizes will be awarded on the day and

parents are encouraged to come along and join in

the fun
