Our Hope Is In Christ

“I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.” (1Thes 4:13).

We, the Christians, grieve, but with hope, and our hope is anchored in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who said, “I am the Resurrection and the Life, he who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26). Our hope is in Christ who said, “Because I live you will live also” (John 14:19). Our hope is in Him who said in His prayer before His crucifixion, “Father, I desire that they also whom you have given Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world” (John 17:24. Our hope is in Him who shed His blood on the cross for our salvation. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). Our hope is in Him who while on the cross told the thief on His right who repented and said, ‘Lord, remember me when You come into your kingdom.’ Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:42-43). Our hope is in Him whose Apostle Paul said, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1Cor 2:9). Our hope is in Him whose evangelist John said, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes: there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain for the former things have passed away” (Rev 21:3-4). A Prayer for Easter Eyes

My Lord Jesus, you have risen to new life! Give me new eyes with which to recognize your presence in the

world around me. Sharpen my vision so that I see beyond the ordinary events of each day and into the

extraordinary reality of your grace. Brighten my view of the world with renewed hope in the coming of your Kingdom. Soften my gaze so that I view others with

the kind of tenderness and compassion you showed to so many. May each day of this Easter season provide glimpses of your glory. In your sacred name, I pray.

Symbolism of Easter Eggs! The Easter egg is one of the most widely recognized Easter symbols, but because it has been widely secularized, we some-times forget the Resurrection symbolism

of the egg. The custom of having Easter eggs is very widespread, so much so that the Christian meaning has been all but forgotten. Of course, these Easter eggs are symbols of the Risen Christ. As a chick breaks the shell when it is hatched and begins life, so Our Lord comes forth living from the tomb. This year try painting figures of Christ, the Easter Lamb, etc. on the colored eggs. Many of the other symbols which the Church uses in her liturgy may be used also!

Our Easter Message from our Pastor—

My Dear Parishioners,

On this Easter Sunday, we gather to celebrate the resurrection of Our Lord, who was willing to go to the cross for us. Our God was willing to bear the humility of being a man, the humility of dying upon a cross and descending into hell so that He could conquer the darkness of sin and in so doing unlock the gates of heaven for us.

From the hopelessness of the tomb and the emptiness of the grave, the Son of God is risen, and He comes knocking on our door this Easter Sunday with the promise of eternal life! The simple meaning of Easter is that our God who has forgiven our sins and conquered death on the cross, calls us also to examine our own relationships and to reach out and forgive our neighbors.

Our entire parish staff and community joins together in extending to you our best wishes for a joyous Easter season. Since Easter is fifty days long, we will have many opportunities to greet you personally and thank you for the life and joy you bring to Our Lady of Lebanon.

A special word of thank you to Fr. Mitch Pacwa who always makes our Easter a meaningful one. I also want to thank everyone who worked to make our church and our liturgy so beautiful for Easter.

We extend a warm welcome to those who are visiting our parish for the first time We are so happy that you chose to celebrate Easter with us. Divine Mercy Sunday Sunday, April 28th, 2019

Fr. Assaad will lead us in reciting the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 10:00AM.

Jesus asked that the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy be recited as a novena beginning on Good Friday.

He promised, “By the novena (of chaplets), I will grant every possible Grace to souls.” You are encouraged to make a

novena in the privacy of your own home.
