RIVER MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT

Our second offering on July 24 will be for a special project that Rev.

Sysay Vilaylack, pastor of the Riverside Laotian CRC, is leading in

Laos. There are plans to build a building in Laos that would serve to pro-

mote the work of God’s Kingdom and Church in that country. The two-

story building would provide space for worship, discipleship, Christian

Leadership Training, E.S.L. classes, job training and other uses. A number

of donations have already been made: land, construction, labor, mate-

rials, architectural work in all totaling: $170,000. $35,000 is still needing to

be raised to complete the work. Please consider giving generously so

that God’s work can move forward in this Communist nation which so

desperately needs the kingdom and church of God to grow.

SCOTT’S SERMON NOTES

The City of God: Our present and future home

Ezekiel 40:1-4, 43:1-12

What is this vision?

A. God tells Ezekiel that this is important for the people to hear.

“…Pay attention to everything I am going to show you… Tell the house of Israel

everything you see.” Ezekiel 40:4

God wants his people to hear that he has a __________________ plan for his

_____________________ city and that he is ___________________ it for his

_____________________ purposes.

B. His purpose is to create a dwelling place where He will live in glory.

“The glory of the Lord entered the temple… ‘this is where I will live among the

Israelites forever’” vs 43:4,7

The city is a place of ________________ because it is God’s home. He is mak-

ing our ____________________ home.

C. Living in God’s presence means we allow ourselves to be transformed

to His holiness.

“Let them put away from me their prostitution and the lifeless idols of their kings”

vs 43:9

God calls us to be _____________________ of our sin and “put it away”. This is

a call to _____________________.

SCOTT’S SERMON NOTES

D. To fuel our repentance God calls us too… What?

“If they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of

the temple.” vs 43:11

Huh? In repentance consider ________________?!? No. Be _______________

“Hold fast to (Me). The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of

my God” Revelation 3:11-12

In Christ, God’s ________________plan for his city is us. We are the city. God is

constructing us to be the home he lives in. In our _________________ God is

moving us through __________________ to be Holy!
