Notification to customers is necessary if they are known to have affected product. Overview: The glass display window on the UC4.5 control panel may become loose. If the glass is loose, the glass will need to be glued in place and adhesive tape strips (provided by NORAC) should also be added. If the glass is not loose, NORAC recommends adding adhesive tape to the glass panel to prevent this issue from happening in the future. Affected Products: All UC4.5 Control Panels in the following serial number range: CP-1200 to CP-1495. Symptoms: Glass window on UC4.5 Panel is loose. Loose Display Window Glass on UC4.5 Control Panel

Overview: The glass display window on the UC4.5 control panel may become loose. If the glass is loose, the glass will need to be glued in place and adhesive tape strips (provided by NORAC) should also be added. If the glass is not loose, NORAC recommends adding adhesive tape to the glass panel to prevent this issue from happening in the future.

Affected Products: All UC4.5 Control Panels in the following serial number range: CP-1200 to CP-1495.

Symptoms: Glass window on UC4.5 Panel is loose.

Required Action: This procedure should be performed on any control panels as part of normal service.

Materials Required:

To order a free repair kit, which will update 10 panels, request part number 45111. This kit includes 10 glass windows, 20 pieces of foam tape, and automotive seam sealer with a syringe to apply it.

1. Disassemble the UC4.5 Control Panel to expose the back of the display glass: a) Remove the back cover from the UC4.5 Control Panel by removing the four (4) Philips

screws (Figure 1). b) Remove the PCB display assembly by removing the six (6) Philips screws (Figure 1).

2. Apply updated fastening to the glass window: a) If glass is intact, apply 1.25” of foam tape (Item 2) as shown in Figure 2. b) If glass is loose or can be removed:

a) The glass window should be reinstalled into the housing. The existing glass can be reused if it is in good condition.

b) Clean contact surfaces between glass and plastic and set glass in place. c) Fill the syringe with automotive seam sealer Apply new adhesive (Item 1) around gap of

glass and plastic as shown in Figure 3. A fine-tipped syringe may be used for placement (Item 3).

d) Allow adhesive to cure for 2 hours before proceeding to the next step. e) Apply 1.25” of foam tape (3/4” wide x 5/16” thick) (Figure 2). f) Bond foam tape to wall of enclosure with Cyanoacrylate adhesive.

3. Reassemble the control panel: a) Clean the glass on both sides. b) Install PCB assembly to front cover and tighten the six (6) Phillips screws to 7in-lbs. c) Install the back cover and tighten the four (4) Phillips screws 5in-lbs.
