Anders as onse Nommer Een het Vlieg dar-em in Desember net twee keer sy naam gat gemaak.

sou tuis bly, omdat hy so bang was vir die paaie.

Dis eers toe Vlieg

daar aankom dat hy toe agterkom

dat dit eint-lik nie sen- d i n g w e r k is nie, maar

‘n sending!

truukmeisies. Vlieg was natuur-lik onmiddellik diep teleurgesteld

Vlieg soek ‘n nuwe vriend!

For those of my older generation who do not really comprehend why Facebook exists. It’s a way of sharing your life with thousands and making new friends.

Presently, I am trying to make friends out-side of Facebook while applying the same principles.

Therefore, every day I go down on the street and tell the passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel, what I have done the night

before and what I will do tomorrow night. Then I give them pictures of my family, my dog and me gardening and spending time in my pool.

I also listen to their conversations and I tell them I love them.

And it works!I already have three persons following me:

two police offi cers and a psychiatrist.• Submitt ed by a regular Bulletin reader.

Facebook - in real life...

Everyone loves winning. Whether it’s win-ning at a game or a prize, winning is asso-ciated with a feeling of self-gratifi cation, joy and sheer happiness. Boxer Superstores have been consistently good in ensuring their cus-tomers always feel great through their many winning campaigns. One such campaign is ‘The Boxer Super Shopper Show’ which was fi rst launched three years ago.

This campaign saw Boxer customers win-ning brand new Ford Figo cars as well as a number of Boxer gift cards by simply pur-chasing three specifi c products to qualify for entry. With the launch of this campaign being so successful, and with customers de-manding another chance to win big with Boxer, last year saw Boxer bringing back ‘The Boxer Super Shopper Show’ to custom-ers nationwide.

January 2016 kicked off with the Boxer Su-per Shopper Show being introduced to cus-tomers in all Boxer stores. The 2016 version however, is said to be bigger and bett er. The national retailer will be bringing their Boxer Super Shopper Show to life this year through

the power of TV. The campaign will ex-tend over ten weeks with one fi nalist be-ing selected weekly. Every Thursday on SABC1 at 19:10 the weekly fi nalist will be announced. The ten fi nalists will then all appear on the Boxer Super Shopper Show on SABC1 live. Two of the lucky fi nalists will drive away in a brand new Ford Figo and the other eight will walk away with amazing household applianc-es ranging from fridges to TV’s to wash-ing machines.

Boxer customers will need to purchase a minimum of two advertised products to qualify for entry into this fantastic competition. A unique code will print out on the customers’ Boxer till slip if they qualify. The customer can then dial the Boxer USSD number (*120*26937#) to enter the competition to be a fi nalist on the live TV show. All ten fi nalists will get to participate in the live Boxer Super Shopper Show with the Games Master, Bongani NX.

“We know that at the beginning of a new year, shoppers around are feeling the pinch

when it comes to the ever increasing cost of living. Boxer realises this and we are adding more value to our shoppers’ lives. Adding much more value to our shopper’s lives is what Boxer is all about,” explained Andrew Mills, Boxers’ Director of Marketing.

The Boxer Super Shopper Show — Bigger and Better

set out by the SA Qualifications Authority (SAQA). SAQA stip-ulates that access to the qualification of closed water lifeguard is open to all who are able to swim 100 metres (two lengths of the Tzaneen pool) in two minutes.

When asked why local swimmers from the swimming club were not incorporated into this programme the GTM said that they wanted sustain-ability and therefore were looking at using current municipal em-ployees before branch-ing out into the com-munity. The reasoning behind using coaches from Ethekwini rather than capable local trainers was based on a development plan formulated between municipalities which allows for larger mu-nicipalities to assist smaller ones with skills development.

“Our involvement in this programme is in conjunction with

the Independent Development Plan where we incorporate smaller municipalities into this system,” said Pillay. “Ethekwini is a metro-municipality and we want to assist

all the smaller munici-palities in growing their own timber. We believe that there should be job creation and skills devel-opment especially in the area of lifesaving so that we can bring down the rate of drowning in all municipalities.”

Following early morn-ing swimming lessons, the four men were intro-duced to a crash course in basic first aid and CPR as demonstrated by Munsamy. Upon their departure on

Wednesday morning, Pillay expressed his excitement with the progress of the four candidates saying that they showed potential and will have to practice an hour at the pool every day. “We will be back in Tzaneen in three months to continue

with the training and development of the candidates.” • Watch the video of the training and an interview with the dele-gates on our website and Facebook page.

Daar is steeds vyf stukkende boorgat-pompe.

Hoekom?

Helpende Hand benodig

Well 2015 has come and gone, there have been highs and lows in all our lives, but a New Year has started and once again we have a new beginning. A beginning to re-evaluate, re-unite, to for-give and to forget what has hurt us in the past. A time to renew our faith in the human race, but above all a time to renew our faith in Christ. Renewal is not easy as oft en we have been hurt so much that it seems impossible to forgive and forget. If we look at what happened to Christ, we can wonder how He could forgive those that hurt, humiliated and in the end mur-dered Him. Yet, He forgave them and asked His Father to forgive them.

I believe that all humans are basically good, but, sin overtakes them and they turn against God and their fellow human beings.

Committ ing all types of atrocities against them. Yet, Christ commands us to forgive them, how can we when they have hurt us so badly, how can we give them a second chance?

We cannot! Not on our own, but by the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us. We start by praying for them and continue to pray for them, asking God to forgive them and trying our best to overcome the bad feelings we have for them.

Oft en it is easier when it was someone we once loved, provid-ed no violence or abuse. Abuse can take on many forms: sexual, verbal, drug etc. Yet oft en when given a second chance things can change for the bett er.

Christ said: “A new commandment I give you; that you love one another just as I have loved you” so this is the answer as I see it. We need to spread the love.

We love our families and those close to us, which is easy as we know them, but what about those we don’t know? We read daily of farm att acks, rapes, abuse against women and children whom we oft en do not know and we feel for them and even get highly upset, thus we pray for them asking God to intervene.

How oft en do we pray for those who perpetrated the deed ? Asking God to change them, to intervene in their lives, to bring them to justice so that the law can deal with them? We oft en curse them and wish them dead, so it is not easy for us to be forgiving.

But with the help of the Holy Spirit we can try to be more com-passionate towards them. Praying for all is a powerful tool.

I wish you all a blessed, peaceful and fruitful New Year.

Montessori school opens its doorsA Montessori school has opened in the scenic moun-tains outside Haenertsburg (on the Cheerio Road) by Ms Samantha Ambruster.

Ambruster, mother of Hunter (5) and Alex (3), moved with her farrier husband, Mr Wrench Briers, to The Mountain a year ago. Born in Pretoria, she moved with her German father and Belgian mother to Cape Town when litt le. She started work at 16. Her dream was to become a vet but she couldn’t aff ord to study full time. She continued work and studied for her BSc through Unisa.

She also did hostess work at restaurants and her most exciting job was VIP and media coordination at FIFA for two years.

The couple moved to Nelspruit where Ambruster worked at Cecilia Architects as a project co-coordinator for the last fi ve years. She also did administrative work and marketing for The Institute of Architects, is still involved, and travels to Nelspruit regularly for meetings.

Ambruster started looking closely at diff erent educational methods once Hunter was born. She noticed that chil-dren weren’t gett ing sensory stimula-tion. This led to the completion of the one year on-line modern Montessori College course. In her Mountain home, Ambruster started art lessons as an ex-tramural activity for litt le children.

However, she wanted her own Montes-sori school. The owner of the property where they live agreed to the conversion of store-rooms into classrooms. Ambruster and her husband worked for six months, including weekends, divid-ing the storeroom into several rooms and bringing in furniture at child height. Even the toilet, litt le basin and mirrors are child height. The garden around the school was cleared and in came swings and a large sand box.

There are no toys in the school. “We do litt le jobs,” says Ambruster “and my greatest helper is three-year-old Harry Osborne.” The children paint every day and are taught how to use all the senses to get them involved. They learn to write in sand. It’s a fun way to learn as the sand texture is soothing when dampened.

She showed the children how to build castles in the sand. There are geometric wooden boxes, puzzles and books. Ambruster’s favourite children’s author is Julia Donaldson and she reads to the children daily.

The Montessori school has fi ve children between the crucial absorption ages of three to six. Ambruster would like to in-crease her child quota to no more than twelve as she enjoys the one to one stimulation she can give the children.

There’s a family feeling in the morning starting off with Grace and breakfast at 07:45 sharp. The menu varies but it is nutritious and deli-cious. The children have to eat with a knife and fork. They then wash their own dishes in the litt le chil-dren’s height sink and dry and pack the crockery and cutlery away. They get a midday snack from home. Par-ents are instructed not to supply junk food. The parents also have to supply sun screen lotion and hats are worn outside.

The school is built on eco lines with solar panels and a vegetable garden being the next project. Ambruster says that traditional schools no longer teach creativity. Having a degree is not enough these days, as children have to be taught to use their intuition and imagina-tion since these are valuable tools in the work place.

Real success is ultimately measured not by the material wealth you have acquired, but by the positive impact you have made on people’s lives. These are the values which 50-year-old Mr Solly Masetla lives by.

Masetla is a front-end manager at Tzaneen Super Spar, chairperson of the Crime Pre-vention Forum in Tzaneen’s central business district and the founder of You for Evermed Herbal Products.

He has been serving Spar since 1983, when he started as a fruit and vegetables manager under the guidance of Mr Joseph Unterpertinger and he was promoted to the position of front-end manager under the administration of Mr Rex Goulding in 1990. Since then he has been on this important job (thus for the past 33 years).

Masetla is the man who is popularly known for offering a warm welcome reception to each and every person entering Super Spar

Tzaneen, as well as his magical way to liaise with both staff and the customers.

Masetla was born in Tzaneen’s old industri-al area, moved to Lenyenye after they were forcefully removed, began school at Lenyenye where he completed gr 7 and then moved to Polokwane where he finished his school career.

Since boyhood he believed in making a tan-gible difference in the world. He describes himself as a hard working and focused man. “I played a major role in uniting whites and blacks in Tzaneen. I am friends with many, many people in town”, said Masetla.

Super Spar owner Allen Brett said Masetle only fell ill once and it lasted for only five days in November last year.

“As far as customer service is concerned, nobody in this shop can beat Solly. He really knows how to liaise with both the staff and customers. The Super Spar management is

very proud of what he has achieved and we will be very lost without him,” said Brett. Ma-setla won the Tzaneen Rotary Club’s certifi-cate for Best Customer Service.

Spar was the first shop to open on a Sunday in Tzaneen, mainly through the inspiration

and influence of Masetla. “Because the town was so boring on a Sun-

day, I influenced the management to open the shop on Sundays and they did. Our Sunday customers were church going people. Pickn-Pay then followed in our ground-bresking steps,” said Masetla.

His memorable moment at Spar was in 1993, when the shop was robbed at gun point. “It was during the political transition. The robbers found me and Mr Rex Goulding. They took him to the office and beat him up severely. They then took my tie tied me up while holding a firearm to my head. It was a nightmare experience”.

Since that incident he no longer puts on a tie; not even when he goes to other functions or meetings.

So sê me Lizelle Cronje van Tzaneen.Wie kan deelneem? Toneelspelers,

Indiwidue sowel as groepe is welkom.

Talent gesoek vir SA’s Cedric “City” Tha-bo Modiba is the sole member and director of the recording la-bel Moziri Music. He works for the SA Rev-enue Services (SARS) as a tax auditor. Rejec-tion led him to charter in his own territory.

“It has always been my dream to be a gos-pel artist, but not to run

a production company and recording label. The dream was delayed because of doors being closed as we knocked for opportunities,” he said. City said he took a decision to start a company that will re-cord and distribute gospel music, aft er he had been rejected by recording companies and labels.

City was born and raised in Mamaila village in the Mopani District in 1984; and he is blessed with a beautiful wife and a son.

City was inspired by the music of the of the late Oleseng, Rebecca Malope, Joyous Celebra-tion, Benjamin Dube, the Soweto Gospel Choir and Tshepo Tshola. He knew at the age of 12 that he had a passion for music, and went on to join groups like Revival Family Choir, Leswika la Tu-melo, The Pinnacles and Bana Ba Thapelo.

City started singing professionally in 1999, when Revival Family Choir released their fi rst al-bum. He took a break from music to further his studies and fi nally obtained a Bachelors degree in Accounting at the University of Limpopo.

Aft er completing his studies, City Modiba went back to pursue his music career and as he is a God fearing man, he then decided to focus on gospel music to preach the word of God through music.

The name City was given to him by his choir mates at university. They were calling him by his

initials (CT) and since then has adopted the name City as his stage name.

In 2011 he joined Balatedi ba Morena and re-corded a CD with them. He has travelled and performed with the choir, and he was fortunate to share a stage with the likes of Winnie Mashaba, Trica Selala, Ngwana Ledwaba, Barorisi Ba More-na, Tshepiso, Nkosana, Kenny, and many others.

In 2012 City decided to go solo and started writ-ing songs and in January 2013 he recorded his fi rst gospel album titled “Ke rata wena”, which has ten tracks. In 2014 another album ‘’EMMANUEL’’ was realised and it is doing quite well on iTunes.

“I was inspired by the love that Jesus Christ showed me and I wanted to tell the world about the love of Jesus. The album did not do that well because we relied on self-marketing and distribu-tion for the album,” City said.

Such was his determination that he grew to mas-ter his art. His record label Moziri Music which was registered in June 2013 has produced popular gospel artists such as Job Molele, Mams Molepo and Moziri gospel group. He also mentors up and coming artists.

Because of the love for gospel music and the dream that City had, the company then signed two artists more and a group managed by his company.

“I started my own record label when I identifi ed the talent in Limpopo. I am dedicating my life to giving the talented individuals an opportunity to be in studio,” he explained. City said all Moziri’s art-ists are now available on iTunes and they are busy working on in store distribution for the music.

“God has blessed me with a gift and there is nothing more fulfi lling than to know that you are preaching God’s message through the talent that you have been blessed with, and everyday chang-ing people’s lives for the bett er,” he said.

Vossies vyfde in nasionale netbal

Verdoemend!

Rotary Haenertsburg is gearing up for the annual open water swim on the Ebenezer Dam. The date is Sat-urday 19 March at the Mountain Yacht Club. Go to www.rotaryhae-nertsburg.co.za for all the details or you can enter online at https://ebenezermi le2016.myactiveonline.co.za.
