“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart ... I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.”

  • PVSR PRAYER LINE – LET US PRAY

Please remember in your prayers all of our parish family and friends who suffer emotionally, spiritually, or physically especially for ALL who have been affected by Covid-19. If you wish to have someone listed for one month, please contact the Parish office at 315-384-4242. Anyone from Our Catholic Parishes may request to have a person included in the bulletin for prayers. We will adhere to the practice of including a name for one month before removing it. Prayer can always be requested again at any time.

    ST. ANDREW’S PRAYER LINE

Members of our Parish who would like a member of their family or a close friend put on our Prayer Line are asked to call either Doreen Valade @ 315-212-5729 or Ann Miller @ 315-353-2950. Please be sure the person we will be praying for agrees to this before you call. Everything you share with us is kept confidential.

    FAITH FORMATION CLASSES 2020 – 2021

We will be in contact about classes for January 10th. We have our Parish Google Classrooms up and working. All have been contacted by their catechist or myself to help us with the final step to activate their dedicated account. Each student has been assigned a dedicated parish email necessary to participate in their classroom.

The emails have been set up in this manner ([email protected]) ask either your catechist or Mrs. G for the initial password that they will be asked to change once the account is activated.

Catechists will be in touch with each of you to help and guide you as well as answer any questions you may have. Questions or concerns, please contact Carol Gonthier, Director of Faith Formation, [email protected]. Thank you!

    FACE MASK THROUGHOUT MASS

Due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 infections, the Diocese of Ogdensburg ask that members of the congregation age 2 and older, wear masks or cloth face coverings during indoor Masses (except when receiving Holy Communion) to decrease the spread of airborne droplets and the subsequent risk of transmission. Wearing face coverings is a risk-reduction measure that permits as many people as possible to attend Mass in person. In particular, this helps guard against transmitting the virus to the elderly and immune compromised members of the congregation and to those who assist in their care. We appreciate your cooperation with this request. (The priests and other ministers do not need to wear masks during the liturgy, except for during the distribution of Holy Communion, given their sacred roles and given that they will be a sufficient distance from the congregation for most of the Mass.

PLANNED GIVING - Free Proposal Did you know that you can make a charitable gift that also benefits you in a practical way? A Charitable Gift Annuity is a donation you make to our parish, yet you will receive guaranteed income on it for the rest of your life at a relatively high rate of return (4.7% - 9.5%). Plus you will receive a charitable tax deduction and tax-free income. Ultimately your gift will support our parish, while supporting you during your lifetime. For a free proposal contact the Diocese at 315-393-2920 or Email [email protected].

99 EXPERIENCE, A VIRTUAL WORKSHOP The 99 Experience is a three-session video presentation to spark conversation, inspire prayer and awaken the call of God’s love within you. As Catholics, we often think of ourselves as part of the flock, as part of the 99, safe in the care of the Good Shepherd. We do not see ourselves as the "one lost sheep" needing to be found, nor do we feel the need to go out and search for the one lost sheep. The 99 Experience is a call to recognize that we might be that one sheep who is lost, even though we are part of Jesus’ flock. It is a call to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus, the Good Shepherd. It is also a call to recognize that God may want to work through us to go out an find the one who is lost. Come and save the date to join us for the 99 Experience. When: Thursday evening at 6:30pm, January 14, 21 and 28 via Zoom. If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected].

  • STAY CONNECTED WITH THE DIOCESE

During these uncertain times with much more isolation, we have been relying on technology and the virtual world to stay connected. Here at the Diocese of Ogdensburg, we continue to look for responsible, safe, and creative ways to sustain our mission, ministries and programs allowing you the avenues to maintain practicing your faith. Some we have been able to do in person while maintaining and following all the necessary safety protocols while others we have provided the opportunity to join us virtually (some masses and events we have provided both). With that said, please continue to utilize our website Diocese of Ogdensburg (rcdony.org) to stay connected finding items such as music from across the diocese, honoring married couples, messages from Bishop LaValley, online/broadcast mass times, submitting a prayer intention to Bishop LaValley and much more.

DIOCESAN MASS FOR LIFE Sunday, January 24, 2021 Bishop LaValley will celebrate a Mass for Life on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 11AM at St. Mary's Cathedral in Ogdensburg. It will be live-streamed at www.rcdony.org/livemass Join in person or virtually to pray for a deeper respect for human life. For more information contact the Respect Life Office at [email protected]

Our attention is focused on one in the background of the Nativity scene. This retreat day will consider the mind and heart of St. Joseph, as reflected in his actions, and how he may be a faithful guide and companion in our own lives. If you wish to make an offering for the retreat, mail to: Sisters of St. Joseph, 1425 Washington St, Watertown, New York 13601, to register Email [email protected] or 315-212-6592

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP Want to begin the year with saving money and helping to ensure a healthy planet for the next generation? Check your next electrical statement and request information on how to change to renewable energy. There are many incentives for renewables offered in New York State.

SAFE ENVIRONMENT Did You Know… Forgiving an abuser does not excuse the abuse. No one has the right to hurt other people. Every perpetrator should receive justice from the civil law, take steps to ensure they never victimize again, and seek to make amends in an appropriate manner. It is NEVER acceptable to abuse someone. Each person is created in the sacred image of GOD and deserves to be respected and protected. BLESSING OF THE HOME

There is a custom of blessing homes on the Feast of the Epiphany (6 January) when the family gather to ask God’s blessing on their home and family life. It is an invitation for Jesus to be a daily guest in our homes.

Instructions for Blessing the Home: Using the blessed chalk (which many parishes will bless and make available) mark the lintel of your front door as follows: 20 + C + M + B + 21 saying: The three Wise Men, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar followed the star of God’s Son who became human two thousand and nineteen years ago. May Christ bless our home and remain with us throughout the new year. Amen.

Then say the following prayer: Visit, O Blessed Lord, this home with the gladness of your presence.

Bless all who live or visit here with the gift of your love; and grant that we may manifest your love to each other and to all whose lives we touch.

May we grow in grace and in the knowledge and love of you; guide, comfort, and strengthen us in peace, O Jesus Christ, now and for ever. Amen.

What does the inscription ‘20 + C + M + B + 21′ mean? The letters have two meanings. First, they represent the initials of the Magi – Caspar, Malchior, and Balthazar – who came to visit Jesus in His first home. They also abbreviate the Latin phrase, Christus mansionem benedicat: “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross, and the “20” at the beginning and the “21” at the end mark the current year. Taken together, this inscription is performed as a request for Christ to bless those homes so marked and that He stay with those who dwell therein throughout the entire year.

Covid-19 Due to restrictions in place as a result of Covid-19, parishes may not be in a position to provide blessed chalk, but you can still do the inscription and the blessing in your home. The new year, perhaps more than ever, is a year in which we need to invite Jesus into our homes, our Domestic Churches.
