Important Announcement
Remote Learning Extended for EC and In-Person Rotation
Groups
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education has decided to extend remote learning for all students. This is under the advisement of the Mecklenburg County Department of Health and Human Services due to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 Pandemic. Exceptional Children (EC) students are now scheduled to return February 15. Students on the in-person Rotation Plan are scheduled to return beginning February 22. CMS will re-evaluate the situation at a later date. At this time, all students will continue to learn remotely and follow the same bell schedule with an 8:00 a.m. start time. The school building itself is closed through February 15. Due to this, the PSAT for Juniors scheduled for January 26 has been canceled. All sporting events are canceled through February 15. All staff members are working from home, so you can reach them by email. We are confident that these actions are in the best interest of our community and will help to slow the spread of the virus. We appreciate your continued support in these unprecedented times. Vincent G. Golden Principal Butler High School

Congratulations Atenas! We’re proud to announce that Butler 10th grader, Atenas Hidalgo Peraza, was selected to illustrate a children’s book with author Jeanne Messer! Ms. Messer contacted art teacher Melody Nickel asking if she knew of a talented art student interested in illustrating her book. Atenas is in Ms. Nickel’s beginning visual arts class. Ms. Nickel introduced Atenas to Ms. Messer, the two hit it off, and the rest is history! While we can’t disclose the name of the book quite yet due to confidentiality agreements, we can show you a piece of Atenas’ other work. As you can see, she is quite a talented lady. Congratulations Atenas! Way to represent!
