University of New South Wales

As one of the world’s top 50 medical faculties and 5th in Australia (QS World

University Rankings by Subject 2018), UNSW Medicine is building the future of

healthcare. Our leading educators, researchers and clinicians are translating

discoveries into breakthrough cures, therapies and treatment strategies and

turning high achieving students into caring healthcare professionals with globally

recognised qualifications.

UNSW Medicine is committed to improving healthcare delivery and outcomes

for every patient, with eight schools in Sydney, a Rural Clinical School with

country campuses across NSW, and close affiliations with some of Australia’s

finest hospitals and healthcare organisations. Our many prestigious affiliated

research centres and institutes help foster research excellence and

collaboration, nationally and globally, and drive innovation in every aspect of our

work.

UNSW has had affiliations with Liverpool hospital in Sydney’s west, St George

in the South, as well as Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital

Randwick and the Royal Hospital for Women in the eastern suburbs for nearly

60 years. In 2019, the stage is set for us to be in much closer partnership with

the Local Health Districts and State Government through varying levels of co-

investment in a number of high-calibre Health Precincts.

UNSW is committed to developing health precincts where our teachers,

researchers and students can thrive. Students will work side-by-side with

researchers on real life cases and practitioners will be better positioned to

answer big research questions and solve significant health problems. This

shared interaction will allow researchers to undertake studies that are

immediately relevant for patients, with the results of these studies available to

the treating clinicians without delay. In close collaboration with industry and

government, The Precincts will move toward a more personalised, holistic

approach to healthcare supported by community based services that promote

patient participation, early detection of illness and maintenance of good health

to prevent illness.

about CEDA

CEDA is an independent, not-for-profit membership organisation. CEDA identifies

policy issues that matter for Australia’s future and pursue solutions that deliver

better economic, social and environmental outcomes for Australia. CEDA's cross-

sector membership of 770 spans every state and territory and includes Australia's

leading businesses, community organisations, government departments and

academic institutions.

Membership

Organisations join CEDA because CEDA delivers exposure to high level thought

leadership, timely briefings on issues of economic importance, access to

networking and brand reach through sponsorship and hosting opportunities. In

addition to high profile public events, CEDA also delivers regular member only

events for employees of member organisations and exclusive Trustee only

boardroom briefings for senior executives from member organisations. These

provide a unique opportunity for peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and for

speakers and attendees to talk candidly on issues.

Research and policy

CEDA’s only agenda is to pursue good public policy to progress Australia’s

economic and social development. Since 1960 CEDA has produced more than

3000 publications, research reports and articles highlighting emerging issues and

directions in a diverse range of policy areas. Research in 2019 will focus on

Australia’s long-term budget position, the effects of temporary migration, a survey

of Australian businesses on their approach to economic development, and new

approaches to addressing entrenched disadvantage.
