building a new school in nepal
TRANSCRIPT
In January 2014, Emperia Ventures Founder, Emma Ponsonby went to Bhaktapur, Nepal for the first time, in search of bit of inspiration…
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
Four weeks later she returned, establishing a foundation to support the people she met at Springdale School, sponsoring 14 orphaned and disadvantaged children in the community to have an opportunity for a better
future through education
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
Just over a year later, on Saturday, 25th April 2015, a devastating 7.8 earthquake
struck Nepal at 11.56am
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
Remarkably, while none of the 270 children were at the school during the earthquake, not one of
the children were hurt or injured
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
The Emperia Foundation started receiving an overwhelming amount of donations to support
the community of Springdale School
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
Biju and the community at Springdale School have dedicated their time and efforts to supporting those in need in
the surrounding and more remote areas outside of Bhaktapur
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
The students are back at school, and Biju has trained everyone in
earthquake drills to keep them safe
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
But the lease is ending on their school building, and the 280
students need a new school
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
The Emperia Foundation needs to raise $100K USD to build Biju and the students
at Springdale a new school
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
So these remarkable people, teachers, leaders and children can continue to be an example and contribution to the rest
of their communities to help Nepal recover from this tragic event
THE EMPERIA FOUNDATION 2015
And to thank Biju Shrestha for his remarkable, selfless contribution to the people of Nepal, he is a remarkable human being.
