Community Dialogue Training - by Kenneth Cloke - June 14, 2014 - 10AM to 5PM The Loyola Law School Center for Conflict Resolution - 919 Albany St., Los Angeles

MBB – LA presents Community Dialogue Training by world-renowned mediator, author and founding president of Mediators Beyond Borders International, Ken Cloke, to build facilitation skills for mutual understanding and to reduce intolerance and violence within our communities. We invite the participation of local mediators, conflict transformers, community leaders and community activists interested in developing their Community Dialogue skills. Our intention is to develop a pool of experienced Community Dialogue facilitators who would join us in working locally with this powerful modality for expression across difficult conversation. HOST: The Loyola Law School Center for Conflict Resolution, PARTNERS: California Lawyers for the Arts, Southern California Mediators Association, Pepperdine University Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution, The backbone of Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) is professional mediators and conflict transformers volunteering to build local skills for peace and to promote mediation worldwide. Since 2007, MBBI has developed a global network crossing many countries, offering capacity building skills for local groups who request our services. We offer our knowledge to be adapted by local groups to meet their unique conflict situations. As no conflict is like any other, every conflict requires new options for resolution and transformation. www.mediatorsbeyondborders.org Mediators Beyond Borders - Los Angeles Chapter (MBBLA) was created in 2007 to bring the core vision and mission of MBBI to Southern California, where members living in this region could meet regularly to develop their skills and to offer services to local communities. Key projects of the LA Chapter have included:

• 2008 - Neve Shalom Wahat al Salam - dialogue with NSWAS, a Palestinian and Jewish Israeli village in Israel dedicated to peace and co-living – initiating Middle East Initiative MBBI project

• 2008 - A Mirror Reflection of You - Public Dialogue for 100 Los Angeles participants emotionally invested in the Israel/Palestine conflict

• 2009 – COP15 Climate Change Conference – structure and support for mediators to observe and participate in the Copenhagen meeting

• 2010 – UCLA Congress - key structure development to support MBBI’s annual congress • 2011 – Occupy LA – on the ground mediation services for participants of OLA, including dispute

resolution, conflict engagement training, restorative justice • 2012 – Rwanda Project – fundraising for members participating in this MBBI project • 2013 – Istanbul Congress – key structure development to support MBBI’s annual congress taking

place for the first time outside the USA, hosting over 200 international mediators
