• Environmental Concern– Gas leak– Bad accident nearby

What you need if a Critical Incident were to occur?

• Critical Incident Folder– 2 Green cards with you room number

– 1 Red card with your room number

Critical Incident Plan

• Make sure your Critical Incident Folder and directions on use are visible, readily available, and easy to understand for a substitute or anyone else covering your class. There must be a mention of the plan in any lesson plans left in your absence.

What announcement will be made?

• If a critical incident is occurring we will make an announcement for everyone to go into a lockdown. This means that we lock our doors, position our critical incident colored cards, and wait until law enforcement comes to our rooms or other directions have been given.

Critical Incident Cards

• If a critical incident were to occur, we must place cards in the following manner:– 2 green cards: These cards are place if everyone

in the room is safe. One card is to be taped to the inside of your window and the other is to be placed slightly hanging out of the underneath of your door.

– 1 red card: Place red card under door if there is a PROBLEM. This is if you cannot keep a child in a room or the INTRUDER is in your classroom.

More Important Information

• All announcements will be will be delivered to you via the P.A. system.

• If you have any intelligence to offer, please telephone the Command Center at 100 on the wall phone.

• EXPECT law enforcement to eventually enter your room no matter what.

• Do not send anyone out of your room for any reason. No one is allowed to leave the room.

• No matter what, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR.• The lockdown could take from 5 minutes to more than 8

hours. Be prepared.
