Job Opportunity:
Director of Buddha Amitabha Pure Land
This is an amazing and precious opportunity for a student of Lama Zopa Rinpoche to offer service as
director of Buddha Amitabha Pure Land: a retreat center in Washington, USA. The retreat center has not
yet begun, so the director will have the responsibility for creating the plan, infrastructure and building of
a retreat center pure land.
Buddha Amitabha Pure Land is in Washington State, USA and currently has 2 retreat cabins on it. Now
we need to develop this retreat land into a conducive place for Sangha and students to do retreat and
live in retirement.
Background
Buddha Amitabha Pure Land is 460 acres of undeveloped land, needing a strategic plan for the
installation of roads, water and electricity, and then retreat cabins and retirement cabins to be planned
and built.
Currently there are a few people in retreat on the land, so this also needs to be taken into consideration
during development. Lama Zopa Rinpoche has a private residence on 20 acres on this property, but this
is separate from the retreat land development.
Key Responsibilities and Job Description
The director will be responsible for creating the long term plan, overall infrastructure and actual
implementation of a place for long-term individual retreats and also retirement.
Once the initial period of construction is completed, the director will be responsible for developing a
support system for retreaters.
The director will need to be on site to supervise and manage the building of this community.
In doing all this, the director will work closely with Ven Roger Kunsang and appointed staff.
