1. Change Furnace Filter: Filters only last up to 3 months. Know your size, type, & which direction the filter faces before purchasing a new one. Time: 3 min. unless you have to vote someone in to do the crawlspace dance.

2. Wash Windows: Winter is a great time for cleaning indoor glass while listening to the TV or your favorite music. Use this recipe of 1 part vinegar + 1 part ammonia + 2 parts water + a spray bottle for a hassle free job that produces no streaks. This method takes half the cleaning time. This really works better than anything.

3. Insulate Water Pipes: Add insulation to reduce heat loss and wait time for hot water to travel through the pipes. Repurpose newspaper & wrap several layers around all

exposed pipes & finish off with duct tape. Time: 30 min.

4. Dye-Test Toilets: Test your toilets for leakage, you could be wasting water without even knowing it. Perform the 10 minute test: Add 5 drops food coloring (your choice of color) in toilet tank. Wait 10 min., to see if the color appears in the bowl. If it does, you know you have a leak.

5. Paint a Room or Two: A quick & easy way to renew & change a room. A modern update is the perfect winter project makeover that is sure to brighten up you home.
