CODE OF CONDUCT

As the time of departure for the field course to Poole draws closer, I consider it important to formalise the behaviour expected by the students and to inform you of the sanctions used under these special circumstances.

During the field course week, normal school rules apply.

Students should behave respectfully and conduct themselves properly at all times and appreciate the importance of maintaining the good reputation of the BSN at the sailing centre. Students must obey the curfew times imposed at the centre. The sleeping quarters are out of bounds to pupils of the opposite sex.

There is to be absolutely no smoking or drinking alcohol throughout the whole week.

Students breaking any of these rules may expect the following sanctions to be used according to the seriousness of the offence.

1. Suspension from the course programme.

2. An official report may be placed on the school file and or suspension.

3. Finally, any very serious misdemeanour would result in the student being required to be taken home from the field course. This would have to be arranged by the student’s family and carried out at the expense of the family.

The purpose of the field course is to provide a stimulating physical environment for the students. The week has always proved to be highly successful physical challenge and a thoroughly enjoyable social occasion. I am sure with the co-operation of all concerned that this will continue.
