“March is a month of expectation.” ~Emily Dickinson
By Jessica Rosario
March is National Nutrition Awareness Month, and even though healthy eating may not be a priority for this weekend’s BBQ event, it never hurts to review nutritional guidelines and food intake. Why not set a goal for March?
For example:• Increase water consumption• Try a new vegetable or fruit• Limit pastry/sweets intake
To improve your health even further, get your sneakers ready to go and join the 8-week “Walk Across Texas” program! Sponsored by WellMed and created by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, this program focuses on daily activity (ex. walking, gardening, or participating in exercise classes).
The group will meet in the Bulverde Community Park on Wednesdays at 9:30am, starting March 11th. Aside from cool giveaways and incentives, you will be able to “walk with a doc” and “walk with a cop” (specific dates for these sessions TBD). Why not use Walk Across Texas to prepare for our 21st Annual Run for the Hills, scheduled for May 2nd?
We have some other fun activities this month. Last year’s day trip to the Empty Cross in Kerrville filled up quickly so we decided to offer it again in March. As always, there is limited space on the bus so please sign up early and let us know if you are unable to go so we can offer someone else the space. March’s Tech Talk class focuses on Smart Home devices, such as Alexa and Google Home, and is a great opportunity to improve your knowledge of these products. They can actually be very helpful and a little fun at the same time! As always, make sure you keep an eye on posted flyers, weekly electronic newsletters and of course, this printed version to stay up to date on all the activities and programs we offer!
Enjoy the warmer weather and longer days!
Sincerely, Jessica RosarioExecutive Director

Volunteers are not paid...not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.
Volunteer Appreciation BreakfastIn February, we celebrated our amazing volunteers. We had over 150 people who volunteered over
9,000 hours in 2019. Volunteers helped the Center with Meals on Wheels, in the kitchen, at our front desk, with handiwork as well as gardening, and so much more. We truly appreciate each and every one
of you and we could not do what we do without you.
