[email protected] / 720.366.7191 www.BrownSugaYouthFest.com Brown Suga Youth Festival 2012 Why: To close the gap between the generations and cultures about the current state of our health, environment and ideas of wealth in the urban communities of Denver, engaging our youth so that they are educated, appreciated and feel empowered to dosomething about the problems we are facing and letting our elders know their importance as teachers and supporters of the youth; using art as the tool to provide for the loss of it in our school system. Who: The residents of all Denver and Aurora urban neighborhoods of diverse age groups and ethnic backgrounds, we are specifically targeting youth, but we want and need the presence of their families and community elders as well as community organizations and businesses. What: A one-day festival focusing on Health and Environmental awareness through art, dance, film, food, booths and exhibits, with a tour of the location, the Historic Five Points of Denver, an Inter-Generational panel discussion about the theme topics, ending the day with a live concert, coinciding with the display of art work from local youth, all to educate, empower and motivate them to activate change, in the hopes of creating lasting relationships and partnerships. When & Where: April 28, 2012 -- Denver Crossroads Theatre How: Through the help of supporters and sponsors we will engage, educate, interes- tand empower youth in environmental and health awareness helping them create a connection between the two and what it means for them and their community, giving them a place to take part in and demonstrate their artistic talents, getting them involved in upcoming spring and summer projects geared toward gardening, peace, service learning, education, exploration and action. To provide a space for local organizations to make themselves known to the communities they are here to serve. Attached is a list of our current supporters. We are still looking for more.
