OUR WRITING

We do not always write the words that many WANT to read, but we very often write the words that many NEED to read. For the authors of Brown Essence, writing is not just a passion, but a purpose and for that reason alone, our writing becomes a portrayal of hurt, abuse and anger in many forms. It is also a reflection of beauty and honesty in its rarest form.

OUR EDITING

We are avid readers who write with a love for the very being of the craft. The passion that we love to see delivered in print is what we strive for in our editing. The quality of the finished product that makes people take note, puts the work a step above the rest, is the mark that not only we, but the author is proud to tag our name to.

OUR PUBLISHING

We will only represent work we believe in, so just as we hope that writers are vying for the opportunity to be under the Brown Essence umbrella, there must be an understanding that the street moved from one way to two. Although we don’t specialize in any specific genre, we do ask that the work does more than just tell a story by also delivering a message.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY

Brown Essence is a small publishing company that thinks BIG.

Established in 2009, we have learned that life comes easier as

we think outside of the box. We do not limit ourselves or our

expectations; therefore, each day we continue with our efforts

to do better than we did yesterday. With poets who started as

young as 14 and writers as young as 20. We are proud that we

are able to be a part of tapping into the intelligence of our

youth and young adult.

It is our goal to expand to a point where we become more than

a company but an outreach. We want to reach millions and

with your help we can. So now we look to you as we pursue

our goals and strive to BE an example of excellence!

About our editing…

I submitted several excerpts of my work to Norlita and in less than

24 hours, I had it back with spelling/grammar corrections, content

checks and other perks that I didn’t anticipate. She was professional,

amusing, detail-oriented, honest yet still encouraging. She was

EXACTLY what I needed. She goes over the work with a fine tooth

comb, throws out ideas, finds inconsistencies, and handles

formatting issues and other details that many editors don’t even care

to address. If all we needed was grammar and spelling checked,

there are software programs that can handle some of that-what was

needed was a professional human eye that was able to wade through

WHAT WE WRITE… SAYING NOTHING, WRITING EVERYTHING – This mother-

son tag team of poetry, serves as our way of expressing

the emotions that would otherwise go unsaid. The

maturity that is shown in a young man of 13 years is one

you don’t want to miss.

STAGES - Our goal was to provide a compilation of words

of wisdom for us to gain an understanding of who we

are. We are fully aware that change doesn't happen

overnight as we are also aware that this may be too

much to take in one sitting, so all that we ask is that you

take it in Stages.

SOMEBODY ELSE’S VOWS – A novel of pure essence that

stares marriage in the eye, begging to know who’s

delusional. Does marriage come with a turn off valve to

all other attractions?

THE MIND’S CHAOTIC EPISODES - Poetry filled with

emotion that is stirred from the depths of our souls. We

reach out to touch you as our minds unfold chaotic

episodes of the days past and the days coming. Hoping
