CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
1. CONTRACTOR TO FURNISH AND INSTALL A SUBSTATION FENCE CONFORMING TO NEC 110.31 REQUIRING 6' OF CHAIN LINKED FENCE MATERIAL AND A 1' EXTENSION WITH THREE STRANDS
OF BARBED WIRE.
2. THE FENCE AND GATE FABRIC SHALL BE 9 GAUGE WIRE WOVEN IN A 2" DIAMOND MESH, ALUMINUM COATED BY THE HOT-DIP PROCESS BEFORE WEAVING WITH A MINIMUM OF 0.4 OUNCES
OF ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT OF SURFACE AREA. THE SELVAGE AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM TO BE TWISTED AND BARBED. THE TENSION WIRE SHALL BE 7 GAUGE TYPE 1 MARCELLED
CARBON STEEL WITH A COATING OF 4.0 OUNCES OF ALUMINUM PRE SQUARE FOOT OF WIRE SURFACE.
3. THE BARBED WIRE SHALL BE TYPE 1 FORMED OF TWO STRANDS OF 12-1/2 GAUGE STEEL WIRES AND INCLUDE 14 GAUGE STEEL BARBS IN A 4 POINT PATTERN ON 5 INCH CENTERS. THE
COATING ON THE 12-1/2 GAUGE WIRES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 0.30 OUNCES OF ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT AND THE 14 GAUGE WIRES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 0.25 OUNCES OF
ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT. THE INSTALLATION SHALL CONSIST OF THREE PARALLEL STRANDS OF BARBED WIRE ON ANGLED BARB ARMS, EXTENDED AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE SUCH
THAT THE UPPER BARBED WIRE IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT OUTSIDE THE FENCE.
