CONSTRUCTION NOTES:

1. CONTRACTOR TO FURNISH AND INSTALL A SUBSTATION FENCE CONFORMING TO NEC 110.31 REQUIRING 6' OF CHAIN LINKED FENCE MATERIAL AND A 1' EXTENSION WITH THREE STRANDS

OF BARBED WIRE.

2. THE FENCE AND GATE FABRIC SHALL BE 9 GAUGE WIRE WOVEN IN A 2" DIAMOND MESH, ALUMINUM COATED BY THE HOT-DIP PROCESS BEFORE WEAVING WITH A MINIMUM OF 0.4 OUNCES

OF ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT OF SURFACE AREA. THE SELVAGE AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM TO BE TWISTED AND BARBED. THE TENSION WIRE SHALL BE 7 GAUGE TYPE 1 MARCELLED

CARBON STEEL WITH A COATING OF 4.0 OUNCES OF ALUMINUM PRE SQUARE FOOT OF WIRE SURFACE.

3. THE BARBED WIRE SHALL BE TYPE 1 FORMED OF TWO STRANDS OF 12-1/2 GAUGE STEEL WIRES AND INCLUDE 14 GAUGE STEEL BARBS IN A 4 POINT PATTERN ON 5 INCH CENTERS. THE

COATING ON THE 12-1/2 GAUGE WIRES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 0.30 OUNCES OF ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT AND THE 14 GAUGE WIRES SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 0.25 OUNCES OF

ALUMINUM PER SQUARE FOOT. THE INSTALLATION SHALL CONSIST OF THREE PARALLEL STRANDS OF BARBED WIRE ON ANGLED BARB ARMS, EXTENDED AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE SUCH

THAT THE UPPER BARBED WIRE IS LOCATED APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT OUTSIDE THE FENCE.

4. THE LINE POSTS SHALL BE ROLL FORMED "C" SECTION STEEL, 2.25" BY 1.70" OR ROUND POST 2" IPS (2.275" O.D.) TYPE 2. THE LINE POSTS SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT LENGTH TO BE DRIVEN A

DEPTH OF 4 FEET. THE FIRST LINE POST FROM A TERMINAL OR GATE POST SHALL BE EMBEDDED IN CONCRETE PER THE TERMINAL POST REQUIREMENTS. LINE POSTS SHALL BE EVENLY

SPACED ON MAXIMUM 10 FOOT CENTERS.

5. THE TERMINAL POSTS SHALL BE ROUND POST 2-1/2" IPS (2.875" O.D.) TYPE 2. THE LINE POSTS SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT LENGTH TO BE EMBEDDED IN 12" DIAMETER BY 5' DEPTH OF

CONCRETE.

6. THE SWING GATE POSTS SHALL BE ROUND POST 3-1/2" IPS (4" O.D.) TYPE 2. THE GATE POSTS SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT LENGTH TO BE EMBEDDED IN 12" DIAMTER BY 5' DEPTH OF

CONCRETE. POSITION THE GATE POSTS SO THE COMPLETED GATE INSTALLATION SHALL HAVE NO MORE THAN A 4" OPENING BETWEEN THE GATES.

7. TERMINAL, LINE, AND GATE POST COATING MAY BE EITHER 4.0 OUNCES PER SQUARE FOOT ZINC ALLOY OR 2.0 OUNCES PER SQUARE FOOT OF ZINC HOT-DIP GALVANIZED.

8. THE DOUBLE SWING GATE OPENING SIZE IS 16'-0", WITH TWO LEAFS AND DROP ROD TO HOLD THEM IN PLACE. PROVIDE A DOUBLE DRIVE INDUSTRIAL LATCH WITH DROP BAR TYPE

HOLD-BACKS AND PROVISION FOR LOCKING. CONSTRUCTION TO BE SIMILAR TO LINE FENCE.

9. TOP AND BRACE RAILS SHALL BE 1-1/4" IPS (1.66" O.D.) TYPE 2 GALVANIZED ROUND STEEL PIPE WITH EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL ZINC COATING. THE TOP RAIL IN ITS FINAL STATE SHALL LIE IN

A LEVEL PLAIN BETWEEN LINE POSTS.

10. THE FENCE FABRIC SHALL BE INSTALLED SO THAT THERE IS NO OPENING BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE FENCE FABRIC AND ROCK SURFACE OF THE SUBSTATION YARD.

11. 3' WIDE GATE DETAILS SHALL BE SIMILAR TO 16' WIDE GATE SHOWN. PROVIDE LATCH WITH LOCKING PROVISIONS, COPPER BRAIDED CABLE AND GROUND CLAMP.
