Would you like to use your expertise to guide the work of one of the UK’s most innovative international development charities? Brooke is an international animal welfare charity working across Africa, Asia and Central America to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys, mules and the lives of people who depend on them. We are passionate about making positive, long term change happen and our current Global Strategy (2016-2021) has been created to ensure we make sound programmatic choices, carefully analyse our progress and learn how and where to innovate, grow and adapt. We believe that by changing behaviour towards animals from the local communities to the international policy makers, we can bring about a generational change to the lives of millions of animals and people around the world. Through our international network of Brooke organisations, we employ around 900 staff worldwide, including veterinarians, animal welfare specialists, community engagement practitioners and advocacy experts, reaching over 2 million working equines annually in greatest need. Brooke is seeking to attract a new board member who can give approximately ten to twelve days a year. This role is an opportunity to get a board level insight into a well-run, well-loved and growing charity, share responsibility for its good governance and contribute to its future direction. You will possess strategic vision, strong business acumen and a passion to support working equines and their owners and families around the world. In addition, you will have experience in either of the following areas: International NGO with a background in finance, ideally with an accounting qualification Senior fundraising knowledge, preferably in an international development context
