DAB stations are indicated by theprogramme name instead of thebroadcasting frequency.General information With DAB, several radio

programmes (services) can bebroadcast on a single frequency.

Besides high-quality digital audioservices, DAB is also able to

transmit programme-associateddata and a multitude of other dataservices including travel and trafficinformation.

As long as a given DAB receivercan pick up the signal sent out by abroadcasting station (even if thesignal is very weak), soundreproduction is ensured.

There is no fading (weakening ofthe sound) that is typical of AM orFM reception; the DAB signal isreproduced at a constant volume.

If the DAB signal is too vague to beinterpreted by the receiver, reception is interrupted completely. This incident can be avoided byactivating Auto ensemble linkingand/orAuto linking DAB-FM. SeeConfiguring DAB below.

Interference caused by stations onnearby frequencies (typical of AMand FM reception) does not occurin connection with DAB.

If the DAB signal is reflected bynatural obstacles or buildings, thereception quality of DAB is

improved, whereas AM or FMreception is considerably worsenedin such cases.

The radio is also capable ofreveicing DAB+ and DMB-Audio.

Configuring DAB1. Press the CONFIG button.2. Select Radio and then DAB.

The following options are available forselection in the configuration menu:

Auto linking DAB-FM: with thisfunction activated, the deviceswitches over to a correspondingFM station of the active DABservice (if available) when the DABsignal is too vague to be interpretedby the receiver.

Dynamic audio adaptation: with thisfunction activated, the dynamicrange of the DAB signal is reduced. That means the level of the loudsounds is reduced, but not the levelof the quiet sounds. Therefore thevolume of the Infotainment system

Radio receptionFrequency interference and static canoccur during normal radio reception ifitems such as mobile phonechargers, vehicle convenienceaccessories and external electronicdevices are plugged into theaccessory power outlet. If there is

interference or static, unplug the itemfrom the accessory power outlet.

FMFM signals only reach about 10 to40 miles. Although the radio has abuilt-in electronic circuit thatautomatically works to reduceinterference, some static can occur,

especially around tall buildings orhills, causing the sound to fade in andout.

AMThe range for most AM stations isgreater than for FM, especially atnight. The longer range can causestation frequencies to interfere with

each other. Static can occur whenthings like storms and power linesinterfere with radio reception. Whenthis happens, try reducing the trebleon the radio.

Mobile phone usageMobile phone usage can causeinterference with the vehicle's radio.

Multi-band antennaThe multi-band antenna is located onthe roof of the vehicle. The antenna isused for the AM/FM radio and GPS(Global positioning system); if thevehicle has these features. Keep theantenna clear of obstructions for clearreception. If the vehicle has a sunroof

and it is open, the performance of theAM/ FM radio and GPS can beaffected.

Diversity antenna systemThe FM antenna is a hidden self-tuning system. It optimizes the FMsignals relative to the vehicle'sposition and radio station source. No

    maintenance or adjustments areneeded.
