Success... built on traditionA tradition of working with wood and timber for over 150 years makes Castles Kitchens a truly unique company to do business with.

In 1838 Castles was established as a Ship-breaker at Millbank in London, with yards on the River Thames at Woolwich and Charlton. The company is reputed to have broken up about 1,000 ships and, with a few exceptions, all of the most famous “Wooden Walls of England” ended their days at Castles yards.

More than a century ago, Castles had become a specialist in the manufacture of garden furniture using seasoned teak taken from the old ships. Such innovation earned the company a distinguished client base, and at the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887 the lawns of Buckingham Palace were furnished with Castles' teak seats.

Castles seating was also installed at the Lords and Oval cricket grounds, and at Wimbledon’s All-England Tennis Club.

The Company offices in London were destroyed during World War II, and Castles relocated to Plymouth, where they had long operated a shipbreaking yard.

By the 1950s, the focus of the business had switched to the emerging market of customised fitted kitchens. Today, with over 50 years’ experience in the kitchen trade, Castles continue their tradition of fine design and craftsmanship, through the supply and fitting of high quality kitchens.

The Castles Range

Our wide range of kitchen styles gives every opportunity to find the right style for your kitchen.

The range can be broadly divided into three main categories:

Traditional

Contemporary

Shaker

The following pages give a glimpse of each of the main styles in our range.

Our kitchens are produced using the latest manufacturing techniques and materials to offer you the widest possible range of choices.

Door ConstructionF

As a guide to help you find out a little more about each of the styles, you will see a small icon beside the name of each style. This indicates the materials used in the construction of the doors of that style.

Timber doors - a varnished timber finish. (Some of our wooden doors can also be supplied in a sanded finish offering you the chance to finish them to your own personal requirement.)

Foil doors - combining consistency with man-made durability, foil finishes can mimic materials from natural woodgrains to stainless steel, or add a splash of colour. Modern manufacturing techniques ensure optimum performance and consistency in colour, pattern and finish.

Laminates - a durable and practical material that is easy to clean, laminate doors can be a cost-effective alternative to wood.

Stainless Steel - a modern and robust material, and preferred choice for the professional kitchen for its durability and hygienic qualities.
