ZERO CONFIGURATION DEPLOYMENT AND SIMPLIFIED MANAGEMENTThedefaultsettingfortheBrocadeVA-40FCisAccessGatewaymode,whichallowsorganizationstodeploytheswitchimmediately,withoutanyconfiguration.Optionally,AutomaticPortConfiguration(APC)automaticallysetsF_PortsandN_Portsbasedonwhatisconnected,andserverports(F_Ports)areautomaticallybalancedacrossfabriclinks(N_Ports).Whenorganizationsaddorremoveserverorfabriclinks,theswitchcanautomaticallyrebalancetheconnections.

TheBrocadeVA-40FCinAccessGatewaymodefacilitatesgreaternetworkscalabilitybyappearingtothecorefabricasasinglephysicaldeviceratherthananetworkswitch.Asaresult,theswitchdoesnotconsumeafabricdomainanddoesnotcausethefabrictogrow.Thisenablesorganizationstoaddracksofserverswithoutstressingtheirscalabilitylimits.Allservers,physicalorvirtual,receiveavirtualN_Port,withtrafficflowingthroughaphysicalN_Port.Logically,theserversarepresenteddirectlytothecore,enablingthenetworktoappearflatwhilestilltakingadvantageofcore-to-edgescalability.

DESIGNED FOR HIGH-DENSITY ENVIRONMENTSNewserversolutionscanhelporganizationsoptimizetheirdatacenterstoprovidemoreserviceswhileremainingwithinthephysicalconstraintsofthosedatacenters.Theydosobyincreasingtheamountofcomputepowerbeyondwhattraditionalserverformfactorstypicallyprovide.TheBrocadeVA-40FCsupportsthesehigh-densityserverdesignsbyprovidingtheindustry’smostcompactenterprise-classFibreChannelswitch,withadepthofonly17.6inches.

CONNECTIVITY INTO MULTIPLE AND THIRD-PARTY FABRICSTheBrocadeVA-40FCinAccessGatewaymodeenablesconnectivityintomultipleSANfabrics,providingauniquelevelofnetworkflexibilityattheedge.UsingtheportgroupingcapabilitiesofAccessGateway,someserverscanbemappedtoonefabric,withotherserversmappedtoanotherfabric.

Thisenablesorganizationstoscaletheirserverswithoutbeingconstrainedbywhichfabrictheavailablestorageisattachedto.
