The Karneval’s Fancy

Dress Party on Saturday 25

February 2017 started at

7.11pm and it was a great

success.

Everyone there had a great

time. We had some

p r e v i o u s K a r n e v a l

Members walking in with

the old KDK hat and

throwing bags of lollies to

the children who came with

their parents to celebrate. I

presented the organiser of

the Karneval night, Claudia

Lüttringhaus, with a special

Karneval medal which

belonged to Willi Kortz

(KDK President in the

1970s) and also designed by

him, as a thank you for

keeping the Karneval

festivities alive in the Club.

The Children’s Fancy Dress

Party held on Sunday 26

February 2017 from 11am-

3pm was organized by

Paula Hay and was a great

success.

to the Club with the

introduction of a new bar

till system and phone

Back in full swing for

2017

Our first rehearsal on the

28 February 2017 went

very well with most of our

choristers back for

practice. We also had

s o m e n e w f a c e s

participating but it

remains to be seen if they

are staying on. Some of

our choristers are still on

holiday and some are on

the sick list. We wish

them all the best for their

recovery and hope to see

them back again soon.

Preparations are in

progress for our July

Concert this year with the

Theme “Glückliches

Reisen”. More details in

the next Newsletter.

Birthday celebrations for

April and May are

Our Conductor Leo will

be celebrating his 80th

Trip, Saturday 22 April

Our Bus Trip on 22 April

2017 is leaving at 8am

sharp from the Club’s

Car Park and should

return around 5pm.

Please contact Monika,

Amir or Oleg with your

booking for the trip.

A fishing trip is also

pencilled into our diary

for June going to

Somerset Dam.

This will be a weekend

trip where the boat will

be supplied and also a

communal tent.

Please bring your own

tent as well. Details and

date will be published in

the next Newsletter.

Alpenrosen news

In February, the Alpenrosen boys were invited to perform at the Stammtisch

Faschingsball. The junior boys executed the Fight dance well and were then

joined by Kirby and Stuart for Max Glaner Schuhplattler. It was a fun night

for all.

We are in the final preparations for our adventures to Canberra on the Easter

weekend … the two routines have been finalised, rehearsals are tight and pol-

ished … we will be looking great in our new team t-shirts. We are looking

forward to catching up with our long-term friends and new dancers to meet.

Our partner dance group, the boys from Linz, Austria, are again joining us for

a fabulous long weekend.

After a short recovery break, we will again be back to rehearsals for the up-

coming Anniversary Ball at the Club.

Go on most transactions now. This has been met with great approval from

Brisbane Stamp Club News

City of Brisbane Stamp Club members have a keen interest in postage stamps of Europe particularly Germany. This connection sees club meetings held in the Choir Room of the Brisbane German Club on the third Thursday every month at 7.30 pm. All are welcome for serious questions about stamps or just a casual chat for the inquisitive.

Dear friends Today is the day that Cyclone Debbie is said to hit Queensland’s Coast. We very much hope that you will be safe in the coming days. Our thoughts are with you. On a lighter note, Karneval in the Hall is done and dusted! The most colourful party of the year impressed with dances, songs, laughter, small and giant prices, amazing best dressed awards, Karneval music, Polonaise and lots of traditional goodies to take home! Our Sponsors were the Honorary Consul of Germany, Oktoberfest Brisbane with two price packs, Meixners Continen-tal Butcher, Zum Kaiser Restaurant, Schnucki Dirndl und Lederhosen, Beesting Café and King of Cakes. Thanks to Andrew and his friend as well as Monika and the Board for the great team effort. On the microphones were Lyndal Möller, Paula Hay, Dene Harris (special guest) and Claudia Lüttringhaus.
