• ters perished with them early Saturday in this Lewis County com-j | munity.
The father. Murel Leaf, 42. thought he had aroused all his five children and had them safely j out of the burning house. He started moving furniture out of the building when he saw that Mary Jane, 8, and Eve Marie. 4,: were not outside. He went back to rescue them and was not seen again.
Three other children escaped. Their mother was not at home.
