STUART MCCARTNEY Newton Primary School, Chester

From the first investigation into a quality provider for the NPQH, it was clear that the TCTL had everything in hand. The very first meeting, introducing us to the programme was excellent - inspirational speakers who fired you up with enthusiasm and the desire to be a headteacher. I came away from the first session believing I could be - indeed I already was a headteacher!

The different modules have been excellent: informative and full of insight, advice and guidance from all experts in their field. The facilitators have been superb, offering us a variety of advice and insight. Each new module is very thought provoking, and whilst I don’t always agree with what articles or case studies have got to say, they allow you to think about what you actually believe about teaching, managing others and becoming a headteacher.

The whole course provided by the TCTL really focusses your mind and offers you clear insight and direction into becoming a headteacher - so much so, that after only 8 months on the course I was encouraged to go for a Headship post by my coach. I secured an interview, and used a lot of ideas and guidance from the TCTL modules throughout my 2-day interview and presentation process. I’m pleased to say that I have now accepted my first headteacher post, from my very first application and interview! I know I would not have even got past the application stage or even applied for the post, had it not been for my coach, placement school head teacher and all the fantastic advice, guidance and clarity of thought, provided by the TCTL programme for the NPQH: a true testament to the quality of training I have received in a short space of time.

FIONA WATSON Mount Pleasant Primary, Accrington

The organisation and delivery of the NPQH has been excellent. The facilitators have been very informative and willing to share real life experience from their own headships. The course materials have also been excellent and useful tools to support planning and preparation.

MOHAMMAD SAJJID SARWAR AL Hijrah School, Boardsley Green

The TCTL are providing a course that is extremely engaging and challenging. I have benefited most from high quality training days, led by inspirational facilitators. The modules seem to strike the balance between the theory, morals and ideology of being a headteacher, and the day-to-day skill and knowledge requirements such as understanding budget, structure of governing bodies etc. The online communities set up are thought-provoking, with online discussion following on from stimulating reading and tasks. Lines of communication have been good, and queries are answered quickly and efficiently. I have also been provided with a coach who has helped me to structure my school-based strategic challenges.

ROB SIMPSON Northcote Primary School, Walton

I have enjoyed the workshops and my coaching sessions. My placement has been extrememly encouraging too. I have gained some good resources and first-hand knowledge from successful educational leaders. This is helping me to evaluate what, how and why I do things as a leader, encouraging me to be more reflective and improving my ability to be in headship.

KASHFA KALIM BARLOWThe Manchester Creative

Learning School, Harpurhey

The face to face sessions have been highly effective and relevant - the facilitators have been helpful and enlightening.

The information I have received has always been very helpful and the quality of the facilitators is very high. There is a good amount of time during the days to listen, discuss with colleagues, work independently and share with the group. The course materials are very good with examples from current headteachers and schools and prove very useful to help you think about your current practice and how you might apply this in the future.

The facilitators have been of good quality with a clear track record which commands respect from the trainees. The course content is apt and supporting materials are of a good quality. It’s good to have the balance of theory and case studies.

On a teaching and learning level, the facilitators were great and, for me, the best part of the course was the face to face days. Throughout the course the content was always interesting and relevant, and delivery thought provoking and interactive.

I would have no hesitation in recommending TCTL to those wishing to undertake NPQH. Great facilitators, worthwhile face to face sessions and continual, informal help and support mean everything is geared around helping you to succeed.

The fact that we were working with experienced headteachers and developing skills that we could use directly back in the workplace meant that you were always sure that it worth the effort involved. On top of that we always knew that support was available. I would be happy to recommend TCTL - everyone there was always and efficient and professional throughout.

MARIE GRAVES St Andrews CE Primary, Ramsbottom

TCTL was definitely a good place to take the programme as everything just seemed so well linked. All of the staff worked together really well and took the time to get to know the students, which is important for any programme of this nature.

ALISON KELLOCK Manor Green Primary and Nursery School, Manchester

I found the course content delivered by TCTL to be spot on and highly portable. The facilitators – who were themselves experienced, practising headteahcers – were all passionate about their role and infused me with a similar passion to do the best in my settings.

The choice of presenters was also first rate, with a hearty mix of pedagogy and presence! All of the face to face sessions were really well organised and there was a super balance of between information sharing and discussion.

RACHEL KAY Mayfield School, Chorley

Face to face and the facilitators - serving or recently serving heads, bang up to date. Good preparation

for headship.

TRACEY WHETTON Sedburgh Primary School, Sedburgh

It makes a big difference having tutors and facilitators who can bring learning to life and relate it to the real world.

ANDY HUNT Golborne Community Primary School, Golborne

KATHY CLAXTONOakfield High School and

College, Wigan

The facilitators have all been high quality and the sessions have been well resourced and well organised. There was plenty of choice for placements and coaches and I got my first choice for both. The quality of the coach has been outstanding.

The TCTL offers high quality, accessible support throughout the course.
