First, a quick note about the focus fabrics…. For a more pleasing quilt, fussy cut your 8 ½" squares. This means you should strategically cut so the featured object is in the center. The tree, for example, should fall nicely in the center of the square as pictured to the right.
Cut your fabric as listed below.
From your Focus 1 Fabric: As this fabric is direction, let's cut the borders first.
Cut 2 — 6 ½" strips from the length of your fabric (parallel to the selvage) for the vertical borders. Then, for the horizontal borders, cut 7— 6 ½" strips from the remaining width of fabric as pictured.
Cut 12— 2 ½" strips (put aside for Binding). Finally, fussy cut 8— 8 ½" squares.
From your Focus 2 Fabric: Cut 4— 8 ½" squares.
From your Focus 3 Fabric: Cut 4— 8 ½" squares.
From your Background Fabric: Cut 3— 8 ½" strips, then 12— 8 ½" squares. Cut 14— 2 ½" strips,
then 68— 4 ½" segments and 84— 2 ½" squares.
Cut 7— 2" strips (put aside for Border 1).
From your Star 1 Fabric: Cut 1— 4 ½" strip, then 5— 4 ½" squares. Cut 2— 2 ½" strips, then using those strips and the
leftovers from above, 36— 2 ½" squares. Draw a faint line diagonal line on the back of the 2 ½" squares.
Cut 8 — 2" strips (put aside for Border 2). From your Star 2 Fabric: Cut 1— 4 ½" strip, then 8— 4 ½" squares. Cut 5— 2 ½" strips, then 68— 2 ½" squares. Draw a faint
line diagonal line on the back of the 2 ½" squares. From your Star 3 Fabric: Cut 1— 4 ½" strip, then 8— 4 ½" squares. Cut 2— 2 ½" strips, then 32— 2 ½" squares. Draw a faint
line diagonal line on the back of the 2 ½" squares.
From your Accent Fabric: Cut 4— 2 ½" strips,
then 16— 4 ½" segments and 32— 2 ½" squares. Draw a faint line diagonal line on the back of 16 squares.
Fussy cut your focus fabrics.

Making the Star Blocks
Each of the Star blocks are the same piecing but with different colorations. Star A Block To make Star A, collect the following:

Place the 2 ½" square of Star 1 on the background segment as pictured. Stitch a thread inside the line (towards the point). Fold the segment over to reveal the pieced triangle. Make sure top fabric is even with the bottom, then trim away the bottom two fabrics. Press toward the star fabric.
Repeat with a Star 2 Fabric on the other side. Make 4 flying geese.
Add the other pieces and assemble as pictured to get your block, measuring 8 ½" square.

seams of the first row to the left and the second row to the right. Repeat with all of the other rows.
When your rows are together, add Border 1, press
seams out. Then add Borders 2 and 3, again pressing seams out.
