The Chamber along with three health
care providers invites you to save the date
for our first-ever policy luncheon focusing
on health care.
“Health Markets Factors Ailing Busi-
ness” will be the subject of a talk by
Spencer Harris, health care policy expert
at the Austin-based Texas Public Policy
Foundation, a free-market oriented think
tank. The event will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Monday, May 21, at Holiday Hills Country
Club.
Harris will address the how changes in
federal and state laws and regulations are
impacting business now, and how they will
continue to change insurance markets in
the years ahead. Although it is being con-
tested in court, by 2014 businesses and
individuals will have to comply with sev-
eral new provision of the Patient Protec-
tion and Affordable Care Act, the major
health insurance reform law that Congress
passed in 2010.
The event is sponsored by Mineral Wells
Nursing and Rehabilitation, Palo Pinto
Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Integra-
Care Hospice.
For reservations, call the Chamber at
(940) 325-2557 or visit
www.mineralwellstx.com.
The Chamber has been asked to kick off
the 2012 Tourism & Preservation Round-
Up in Cisco on March with a presentation
on the Mineral Wells Fossil Park. In
other Fossil Park news, the Dallas Paleon-
tological Society has presented the City of
Mineral Wells with a check for Fossil Park
signage on U.S. Highway 180. This will
help to advertise to both tourists and resi-
dents the location and existence of our
wonderful park, which turns two in May.
The Chamber has given a sponsorship to
this year’s annual Booster Club and
Chicken Express All Star Classic, set
to take place Saturday, March 24, at the
Mineral Wells High School Gym. The
girls’ game will start at 6 p.m. and the
