THE COMPANY

THE SANTALAND DIARIES

Peter Hunt (David) is an associate producer for The Bricks Theatre, as well as co-partner in the emerging Bricks Creative endeavor, and is pleased to reprise the role of Crumpet for another year (and hopefully many more years to come). A Chicagoland native, he has been fortunate enough to have performed locally with nearly all of Madison’s theatre companies, playing a wide variety of eclectic roles ranging from a foul-mouthed dog named Bar-ney all the way across the spectrum to the infamous Richard Loeb. In addition, Peter has appeared in several regional television commercials, and will be seen in two upcoming independent, full-length features from Claymore Produc-tions and Barking Shadow Productions, respectively. Mr. Hunt was honored last year by being voted as one of Madi-son’s favorite actors by Isthmus readers in the 2009-2010 Annual Manual.

George Gonzalez (Director), a New York City native, has worked as an ac-tor, playwright, director, and producer, served on the Mercury Players Theatre Board of Directors 04/05, Co- Produced the 2009 Madison Young Playwrights Festival, Served as a Teaching Artist for the 2010/2011 Madison Young Playwrights Festival, produced by The Children’s Theatre of Madison. He has had the pleasure of performing with local theatre companies; Madison Repertory Theatre, Stage Q, Mercury Players, and Madison Theatre Guild. In 2004 he served as Audience Services manager and later Marketing Director for Madison Repertory Theatre until the company closed in February of 2009. Gonzalez currently serves as a member on the Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission and is the Co-Founder/Partner and Producer for Bricks Creative LLC, and The Bricks Theatre.

Jenni Schwaner Ladd (Costume Designer) has designed, constructed, or otherwise wrangled costumes for 17 years (and counting). She has worked for Irish Repertory of Chicago, Lookingglass Theatre/Chicago, and Four Seasons Theatre, and toured with Reduced Shakespeare Company and Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. Currently, she is the touring wardrobe supervisor for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, assistant costume supervi-sor for Madison Opera, and costume assistant for Madison Ballet. Jenni holds an MA in Theatre History and an MFA in Costume Design from the University of Illinois-Urbana.

David Sedaris (Author) is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, as well as collections of personal essays, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, and When You Are Engulfed in Flames, each of which became a bestseller. There are a total of seven million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 25 languages. He was the editor of Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories. Sedaris’s pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in “The Best American Essays.” His newest book, a collection of fables entitled Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary (with illustrations by Ian Falconer) was just released this past September. He and his sister, Amy Sedaris, have collaborated under the name “The Talent Family” and have writ-ten half-a-dozen plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center, and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include Stump the Host, Stitches, One Woman Shoe, which received an Obie Award, Incident at Cobbler’s Knob, and The Book of Liz, which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service. David Sedaris’s original radio pieces can often be heard on This American Life, distributed nationally by Public Radio International

and produced by WBEZ. David Sedaris has been nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His most recent live album is David Sedaris: Live For Your Listening Pleasure (November 2009).

Joe Mantello (Playwright) Mantello was born in Rockford, Illinois and studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and started the Edge Theater in New York City with actress Mary-Lou-ise Parker and writer Peter Hedges. He is a member of the Naked Angels the-ater company and an associate artist at the Roundabout Theatre Company. Mantello directs a variety of theatre works, moving from a two-hander like Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune to the huge canvas of a mainstream musical comedy like Wicked, from downtown stand-up (The Santaland Diaries) to contemporary opera (Dead Man Walking) to political performance art (The Vagina Monologues).

THE STUDENT

Paul Milisch (Hugh) appeared with The Bricks in the September production of True West, and is happy to be on stage with The Bricks again. Other acting credits include Annas in Jesus Christ Superstar, Berger in Hair, John in John and Jen (which is being reprised in the
