Gart Partner, Bankruptcy and Reorganization Akerman Remembers Friend and Colleague, Brian Gart We are deeply saddened by the passing of Brian Gart, a partner in Akerman’s Fort Lauderdale office. A talented first chair lawyer, Gart was admired by the judiciary and the bankruptcy community for his business acumen, his involvement in a number of complex business restructurings, and his leadership in The Florida Bar. Gart devoted more than 30 years to his national practice, focusing on complex business reorganization and distressed deals for private equity, hedge funds and other investment funds. He began his career at Greenberg Traurig LLP in 1985 where he eventually became a shareholder and practice leader of the firm’s Business Reorganization and Bankruptcy Department. In 2008 he moved his practice to Berger Singerman where he continued to practice as a partner until 2015. From 2015-2016 he served as Managing Director and General Counsel of Gordian Group, LLC. In 2016, he returned to private practice as a partner in Akerman’s Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice Group. Gart previously served as the Chair of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar, which represents the interests of over 6,000 business lawyers within the State of Florida. He also was extremely active in the development and enactment of many of Florida’s business and commercial laws. He earned a B.A., cum laude, in 1980 at the University of Miami and a J.D, cum laude, at the University of Miami School of Law. Areas of Experience

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Brian Gart, a partner in Akerman’sFort Lauderdale office. A talented first chair lawyer, Gart was admired by thejudiciary and the bankruptcy community for his business acumen, hisinvolvement in a number of complex business restructurings, and hisleadership in The Florida Bar.
