BEFORE THAT EASTER BREAK, BOOK IN AN APPOINTMENT AND DRIVE IN TO BRIAN HILTON’S EARLY BIRD DRIVE THROUGH SERVICE. THINGS TO CHECK BEFORE HITTING THE ROAD ON A FAMILY TRIP:

• Check the fluids in your car. Checking the oil, coolant and brake fluid levels may help

you avoid an accident or an unnecessary breakdown.

• Check your tyre air pressure. The pressure marked on the side of the tyre is the max

which must not be exceeded. Also, don’t forget to check your spare tyre pressure.

• If it is almost time to get the oil changed, do it before you leave. A long trip can put

additional stress on your motor.

• Check your tyre wear by using a tread gauge. Tyres heat up on long trips which can

cause blowouts on worn out tyres.

• Check your car’s air filter. A plentiful supply of clean air to your engine improves it’s

performance.

• Wash your car. At the minimum, clean the windows of your car for the best visibility.

• Check to be certain that all lights and signals are functional on your car.

• Ensure that you have emergency equipment inside your car, and that everything works

properly. An up-to-date map, mobile phone, spare tyre, medical kit and flashlight.

BRIAN HILTON MOTOR GROUP ARE A PROUD SPONSOR OF RYDA is a not-for-profit community initiative program,

presented to students aged 16-18 to establish a positive

attitude to safe and responsible road use, so that death and

injury on our roads will be substantially reduced over the

next generation.

It includes 6 interactive sessions designed to create awareness

in students of the causes of motor vehicle accidents and

supply some practical strategies for avoiding involvement.

The topics covered are Vehicle Safety, Hazard Perception,

Stopping Distance, Distraction Management, Fatigue and

Experiences from Crash Survivors. The Program allows

young people to understand the many things that can occur

when behind the wheel of a vehicle.

This program hopes to benefit our young drivers who

count for a quarter of deaths and injuries on our roads and

create an understanding in both school and the broader

community that road safety is a community problem.

It is important we recognise that each of us have an

individual and collective responsibility to the safety, health

and security of others.

EASTER EGG BISCUITSIngredients: • 1 packet Arnott’s Milk

Arrowroot Biscuits

• Lollies, sprinkles or hundreds and

thousands for decorating

Chocolate Topping: • 100g milk chocolate

• 100g white chocolate

• 1 egg

• 2 cups icing sugar

• Food colouring of choice

Icing:

• Separate the egg white from the yolk and pour the egg white into a bowl.

Using an electric beater, whisk until it forms stiff, meringue-like peaks.

• Sift in icing sugar until you reach a spreadable, yet not runny consistency.

• Add a few drops of food colouring if you wish.

• Spread on biscuits and decorate with lollies, sprinkles or hundreds and thousands.

Chocolate coating: • Snap milk and white chocolate into squares and place in a separate microwave safe

bowl. Do not mix the two chocolates together.

• Microwave each bowl on low heat for 1 minute until the chocolate has almost

melted. Stir, and repeat on the same setting for 10 seconds at a time if the

chocolate needs more melting. When it’s runny, carefully spoon it onto the biscuits

and spread using a knife.

• Decorate with either lollies, sprinkles or hundreds and thousands.

PREPARATION: Use chocolate, icing or both to coat these biscuits!
