UTILIZATION

-1.4 Million HAVE ACCESS to broadband but DON’T use it.Reasons:1.) Its TOO EXPENSIVE 2.)They DON’T see a value in broadband

-We may be able to help with expense, but we know we have a responsibility to educate those that DON’T see the need for broadband.

- We are working to empower and educate the Commonwealth about Broadband and its potential to improve the lives of all citizens.

- Universal Access has meant that all citizens have the opportunity to have electric service, telephone service – and now, should mean broadband service.

-Broadband needs to be viewed as a critical, necessary resource for ALL Americans.

-So that ALL Commonwealth citizens can have a better quality of life – broadband can improve the way we live, work, learn, govern and compete .

- With this Goal the Federal Government has made funding available to the States.

-We are using these funds to better understand how broadband services are used in the Commonwealth today.

Our future, in every walk of life, will depend on this new infrastructure. Whether available down the hall or down the street, we must all, sooner or later, embrace it, just as we have electricity, rail lines, and our roads.

Those who embrace it faster have an advantage,Personally, and economically.

-A student can attend a college without stepping foot onto campus

- Entrepreneurs can operate a small business from their home

- Any Doctor, anywhere, could help a patient no matter their location

-A newly diagnosed individual could research options for treatment

- Technical Professionals can live in Kentucky and work ANYWHERE

- Broadband IS the Highway to more opportunities
