• Work with the Area Development Districts to have a Statewide presence.
• Develop a network to facilitate swift communications with local communities and vendors
Fall 2011 – Phase I - Collaboration
•Understand each region’s needs and objectives through data collection to provide info on utilization to improve social and economic development
•Administer five targeted outreach workshops, each tailored to specific region
•Create broadband utilization profile for each region
Spring 2012 – Phase II – Collection of Adoption Data
•Using previous data we are to assist targeted communities with improving their broadband awareness, value and adoption rates.
•Develop educational material for local action groups
•Promote the sustainable adoption , utilization and support of broadbandDevelop outreach campaigns for community stakeholders and general public

8.5% do not have access to broadband ~400,000 people – this doesn’t mean they don’t access broadband, it just means they don’t have access at their home. Many drive to public wi-fi spots.

-1.4 Million HAVE ACCESS to broadband but DON’T use it.Reasons:1.) Its TOO EXPENSIVE 2.)They DON’T see a value in broadband
-We may be able to help with expense, but we know we have a responsibility to educate those that DON’T see the need for broadband.

- We are working to empower and educate the Commonwealth about Broadband and its potential to improve the lives of all citizens.
- Universal Access has meant that all citizens have the opportunity to have electric service, telephone service – and now, should mean broadband service.
-Broadband needs to be viewed as a critical, necessary resource for ALL Americans.
-So that ALL Commonwealth citizens can have a better quality of life – broadband can improve the way we live, work, learn, govern and compete .
- With this Goal the Federal Government has made funding available to the States.
-We are using these funds to better understand how broadband services are used in the Commonwealth today.

- To Increase the use of broadband across the Commonwealth.

- Improving the quantity and quality of information and content that is available to broadband users in the Commonwealth.

- Entrepreneurs can operate a small business from their home
- Any Doctor, anywhere, could help a patient no matter their location
-A newly diagnosed individual could research options for treatment
