We have enjoyed another wonderful fortnight of learning and our students are rising to meet the challenges set for them by their teachers. As always, it is a pleasure to see our students upholding the Bremer Bay Way, using their people skills and communication to help one another. Katanning Netball Carnival Congratulations to our amazing girls, Matilda, Lily and Angelina, who combined with the Gairdner students to form a River to Bay netball team last Friday. The students travelled to Katanning to compete in multiple games, before competing in the Grand Final. The competition was tough, and the team was barely defeated by only one goal. The students are to be commended on the way that they conducted themselves with their dedication to teamwork and good sportsmanship. Thank you to Ms Frewen, the Principal from Gairdner, and our own wonderful parents for transporting the team on what can only be described as a long, but extremely worthwhile excursion for our senior group. Council Meeting Last week saw our first face-to-face School Council Meeting in some time. It was a good turnout and many items were discussed. As we now move towards our last meeting of the year, in Term 4, we would like to encourage parents with business expertise to consider a role with our School Council for 2021. The School Council members are advocates for our school, providing a link between the school and the community. They are essential in school review processes and in approving financial matters such as contributions and charges. If this sounds like a team that you would like to be a part of, please contact either myself, or our Council Chair, Veronica Thomas. River to Bay Sports Carnival We are working hard to prepare for our annual, River to Bay, faction carnival. Last week s lovely weather saw students of all ages participating in multiple sessions of athletics practice in preparation for the big event. It was fantastic to see some of our Senior Class leaders use their initiative and not only help to smooth our new sand for the jumps pit, but to also lead an impromptu practice during their lunch break, guiding the younger students in correct technique. Outstanding! All students will be participating in the River to Bay Carnival and we are looking forward to the day. Thank you very much to those parents who returned their Volunteer Forms. We are still looking for helpers to mark the oval at Gairdner on the morning of the 17th of August, so if you are available please contact me for further details. Attendance Reminder Please remember that if your child is absent from school, you are required to provide written notification in the form of email, text message or hand-written note, including the childs name, reason and date of absence. It is often difficult, because of where we live, to avoid all absence, however it is important to consider the impact not only to your childs education, but to that of their peers through program interruption. Assembly, Parent vs Student Athletics Practise and Stay & Play. On the 13th of August at 1:40 pm, the Junior Class will be hosting the assembly in the school library. We are very much looking forward to having families attend and seeing our spectacular students showing us some of what they have been learning. Following our assembly, the Parent vs Student Athletics Practice will be held on our school oval. Parents are encouraged to come along and give our students some competition to prepare them for the carnival in Week 5. Our final event of the afternoon will be a Stay & Play, organised by our P&C. The Kindy and Pre-Primary students have been in the playground, working on their core strength and

enjoying the sunshine. A game of ‘What’s the time, Mr Wolf?’ is always a favourite.
