Revenue SystemsSyntell has secured a number of contracts withintheRevenueSystemsbusinessunit.ThisincludestheProvisionoftheS3VendingSystemforNalaMunicipalityandanotable3rdtimesuccessionintheimplementationofourS3vendingsystemintheOverstrandMunicipality.Toaddtoour successes, we were also awarded the Provisionofa3rdPartyvendingservicefor City Power, the Supply and Delivery of

Equipment for Electricity dispensing sys-temstotheCityofCapeTown,aDisasterRecoverySitefortheS3vendingsystemlocatedinAbujaNigeria,andtheProvisionofaturnkeysolutionwhichincludesourS3vendingsystem,3rdpartyvending,meterandvendormanagementtoOudtshoornMunicipality.

ThepayCitywebsiteiscontinuallyexpand-ing with new site registrations, as well as an increased uptake of the subscription serviceproduct.Trafficinfringementpay-ments have also been boosted by the sign-ingofthecontractwiththeRoadTrafficInfringementAgency,andthesubsequentweb service integration consuming their nationaldatabaseforAARTOinfringe-ments.

Road SafetyTheRoadSafetybusinessunithasbeenvery busy over the last few months. Wehavesuccessfullyimplementedanddeliveredonanumberofcontracts.Theseprominentachievementsinclude,theAu-tomatedNumberPlateRecognitionSystemfortheRoadTrafficManagementCorpo-ration.TheRoamingAutomaticNumberPlateRecognition(ANPR)Vehicleisusedto identify wanted vehicles, making use of industryleadingANPRcameraswithhighlydevelopedOpticalCharacterRecognition(OCR)softwarecapturingallreadstoadatafile.Wewerealsosuccessfulinrollingout this world class technology and sup-porttotheNorthWestProvince.FortheJMPD,ourservicedeliverablesforthe awarded contract included the end-to-

end supply, operation and maintenance of anadvancedtrafficmanagementsystemincluding speed and light enforcement.

In addition to our achievements, we were successfulinthefulloutsourceofalltrafficlawenforcementservicesforOverstrandMunicipality,TheewaterskloofMunicipalityandSwartlandMunicipality.Theser-vices embraces a comprehensive solution thatincludesFixedspeedandredlightcameras, Mobile cameras, Contravention system,Backofficeprocessing,Supplyofvehicles,Roadblocksupportandend-to-endprocessingoffines.

TheBOT(BuildOperateTransfer)isSyn-tell’sinitiativetoempowertheemergingcompaniesintheRoadSafetyindustry.Syntellofferstechnicalexpertise,equip-ment where needed, training and technical support by means of incubation where theysecurecontractswithLocalAuthori-ties.WeareproudtonotethecultivationofthisforMavamboITSfortheMidvaal,Palaborwa and Ventersdorp contracts.

Thereareonlymodestsignsofthewell-known green pre-fab buildings as demoli-tion vehicles ravage through the remains, the new school glistens in the sunshine. Thedelightedscreamsoflearnersplayingcanbeheardinthebackground.AneweraofFairviewPrimarySchoolhascom-menced.

Establishedtomanagetheoverflowofneighbouringschoolsin1975,FairviewPrimarywasoneof20schoolsselectedforreconstruction by the Provincial Educa-tionDepartmentlastyear.AccordingtoprincipalAubreydeWet,theprocessofhaving the school selected was a ‘long andfrustrating’one,butwearehappythat our dream of having a new school is finallymaterializing,hesays.Theschoolaccommodates982learners,andthenew

building includes a ballet class room, a media centre and a school hall which will seat1200people.

Coinciding with the construction of the new school was the donation of plasma screenTVsandDVDplayersbytheNetworksdivisionoftheSyntellFounda-tionforallseniorclassrooms.OncetheTVshavebeeninstalledaneducatorwillbe teaching in one class and the lesson will be broadcast to all the other classes via the interactive white boards and the plasmascreenTVs.

AtanassemblygeneralmanagerIanCraigoftheNetworksbusinessunitsaid,MrdeWetandhisstaffatFairviewhaveachieved much greatness through hard work, pain, effort and with very little finance.Yettheyarerecognizedasaschool that delivered, measured on their pass rate. I can only imagine the growth and quality of the teaching they will receive based on the environment, which offers a more appealing learning space, increased comfort for learning and new training aids.
