Specific thermal insulation is imperative in the production and coating of chip boards and
fibreboards in particular. The presses used for this purpose are subjected to high thermal and
mechanical loads. Damage to the machine components and production losses are inevitable
without an optimized thermal protection concept.
Thermal insulation solutions provided by Brandenburger ensure product quality, process safety
and machine protection.

Short-cycle press (Dieffenbacher) Short-cycle press (Wemhöner) Short-cycle press (Hymmen) Short-cycle press (Siempelkamp)
Press load in case ofinsufficient insulation –illustrated below
Advantages through the useof Brandenburger InsulationMaterials:
• Improved and reproducible product quality
through a more uniform heat distribution on
the process level
• Considerably lower loads on the seals and
sleeves due to the considerably reduced heat
transmission by the piston
• Shorter heating up time, among other things,
by reducing the heat loss on the heating
plate surfaces or the pipe transporting the
heating medium
• Considerable energy saving as well as distinct
reduction of thermal stress and distortion
on the press frame due to pressure-resistant
heat separation between the heating plate
and the ram or heating plate and mounting
platen
• Calculable servicing times through optimized
Brandenburger Thermal Insulation Systems
The use of a Brandenburger Insulation
prevents press distortion and assists the
production process by distinctly reduced
heat losses.
Brandenburger ThermalInsulation Systems in presses:
• as insulation of the frame or piston
• as cover of the heating plates
• as thermal protection in column presses to
prevent high temperatures in the cross-beams
• for thermal decoupling of testing and measuring
instruments
• for the reestablishment of plane parallelism
in damaged elder presses by compensation
inlays
• as heat insulating slide bearing in case of
extendible tables
• for operational insulation of supply pipes for
hot water, steam or pre-heating oil

Thermal Insulation Systemsfor the Plastics ProcessingIndustry
Brandenburger Thermal Insulation Materials are used inmany applications in the plastics processing industry.
The high energy losses on the exterior
surfaces of tools and production lines can
be effectively reduced by the use of
Brandenburger Exterior Insulations. This
shortens the heating-up times and assists
in providing a constant temperature distri-
bution.
Brandenburger InsulationMaterials for the mould andtool making industry areused in particular for:
• Injection moulds and tools
• Compression tools and moulds
• Blow tools and moulds
• Extrusion tools
• Hot runner systems
The advantages of theBrandenburger InsulationSystems are:
• Excellent insulation effect
• High temperature resistance
• Good mechanical strength
• Good resistance against release agents,
cleaners and other chemicals
• Excellent dimensional stability under
dynamic load
• Long service life

Plastics Processing Industry
Apart from the use as mould andtool insulations, our materials areapplied primarily in the followingmachines and lines:
Nozzle insulation forfilm blowing lines
• Heated presses for the manufacture of articles
of moulded plastics
• Plastic welding machines and equipment
• Packaging machines
• Film blowing lines
• Blow-moulding lines
• Extrusion lines

Brandenburger
Many sliding applications are characterized by high thermal load. Standard sliding materials
made of thermoplastics cannot be used here frequently as they are not sufficiently rigid at
higher temperatures.
Brandenburger Slide Bearing Materials have been developed specifically for use in higher
temperatures and pressure loads.
