At Al Noor International School, it hasbeen our endeavour to provide betteravenues and opportunities for the all-round development of our students.In line with this commitment, weembarked on a major expansion planof developing new premises.

In September 2006, this vision finallytook shape as we opened a part ofthe new premises for students of theMiddle and Senior Level classes. Thenew building houses six state-of-the-art computer rooms and well-equipped laboratories.

Al Noor prides itself on the successfulestablishment of a unique tri-curricularprogramme. Through this, students, oncompletion of the KG Section, are ableto choose one of the three curriculaoffered: British, Bahraini and Indian.Thus, the students are educated in asystem best suited to their needs andabilities.

Al Noor International School, established inSeptember 1993, is a private educationalinstitution with a team of highly motivatededucational enthusiasts.

The campus is designed keeping in mindthe requirements of young learners. Theenvironment is safe, beautiful andwelcoming. The student teacher ratio ineach class is ideal. Learning happens inthe classroom through fun activities thatare specially designed for the students,keeping in mind their individualrequirements. Individual attention ispaid to each student.

The Infant Section (Kindergarten) at Al Noor International School offers

an English medium (British curriculum) education for children between the ages

of 3 and 5. The school is ideal for providing a strong foundation in conceptual skills

and a knowledge of the English language.

Nursery Stage (ages 3 to 4+)

Course Outlook

By the second year, children are betteradapted to the roles played at schooland are eager to incorporate the valuesthey have learnt in the classroom.Emphasis is placed on curricularconcepts and methods of learning, withactivities, games and teaching aidsplaying an important and continuousrole in the academic year.

Course Content

In the second year, more formalinstruction is introduced through Englishlanguage, simple Mathematics, andtopics from the environment thatsurrounds the student. Striving towardsa strong English language foundationand a clear understanding ofcommunication through English stillremains the focus in Reception and thebasics of the Arabic language are also

introduced. More sophisticatedmathematical concepts are taught anda wide-eyed view of the world isintroduced. A stimulating hands-onapproach is applied through organisedgames, toys, active play, and coordinatedskills’ instruction.

Reception Stage (ages 4 to 5+)

Course Outlook

The first year of the Kindergarten is, for mostchildren, their first time away from home andfamily. As such, the teachers in Kindergartennot only play the role of teacher but also ofmother, friend, philosopher and guide. Ourpriorities in the Nursery Section are to keepchildren safe, happy and well-educated, andall our course objectives strive towards thistri-curricular goal.

Course Content

During the Nursery year, the students areprovided with a strong foundation in all aspectsof the English language to prepare them forthe years to come. Numberwork and thematictopics also play a vital role in the syllabus

taught.

Curricular knowledge is imparted to Nurserychildren through games, toys, active play andcoordinated skills’ instruction. Outdoor gamesare daily activities, while music, library, audio-visual exercises, and CD projection periodsare all part of the rich, stimulating syllabus.

Course Communication

It is extremely desirable for parents andteachers to keep in constant contact for thebenefit of the children. There are numerousmethods through which communication isestablished - diary, topic and subjectinformation sheets, parent teacher meetings,telephonic dialogue, and meetings byappointment. The British Section follows the course asrequired by the four stages of the BritishCurriculum in the UK. This 4-stage developmentleads ultimately to the International GeneralCertificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) inGrade 10, set and certified by the CambridgeInternational Examinations (CIE). Students

who meet the admission criteria in the IGCSEare eligible to be admitted for AdvancedSubsidiary exams (AS) in Grade 11 andAdvanced Level (AL) in Grade 12. Al Noor isan approved Cambridge Examinations Centre.Recently, the school was awarded the statusof Fellowship Centre.

Course Structure

Key Stages 1, 2, 3 & 4 (i.e. Grades 1 to 10). The British Section follows the course based

on the British Curriculum leading to the IGCSE Examination of the Cambridge University

Local Exam Syndicate. The IGCSE has gained international credibility and has been accepted

as a preliminary requirement for entry to most of the UK universities. It has also been

recognised by universities and colleges throughout the world.

Our methodology depends on a relationshipof trust and understanding which is establishedbetween the teacher and the students. Thisinteraction is fundamental to the wholeprocess, and the opportunity for emotionaland intellectual development is inherent inthis approach. Teachers are encouraged toteach children how to acquire information andhow to use it efficiently. Understanding is anessential component for coping with the openquestions that are always contained in theFinal Exams.

Familiarity with Information Technology is ahigh priority and students are encouraged touse it in their approach to all subjects. Studentsare also encouraged to see the connectionsbetween theory and practice and between onesubject and another. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The School has a number of clubs whichallow students to pursue their interestsin extra-curricular activities. There areclubs for Dramatics, Music, Debate andElocution. Certain periods are allocatedto these activities giving students theopportunity to develop their talents.Regular inter-house competitions arealso held to encourage participation andthe competitive spirit of the students.

Course Structure

The Bahraini Curriculum is based on the programme adopted by the Ministry of Education

of Bahrain. In addition to the subjects taught in the Arabic schools, we give additional

instruction in English and Computer Science. This leads to the General Secondary Education

Certificate (i.e. Thawjihiya) issued by Ministry of Education of Bahrain.

The method of evaluation in the CBSE systemis objective and reliable. Diagnostic andproficiency tests are administered from timeto time to confirm the attainment targetsachieved by the students. Tests are given toassess their comprehension skills and subjectknowledge.

For Primary classes there is a system of continuous and comprehensive evaluation. The objectiveis to evaluate learners in a holistic manner which includes their creativity, writing, language andcommunication skills. The scheme of evaluation nourishes and nurtures the many facets of thechild’s growth. ADMISSION

Fresh admission to the classes in each ofthe three curricula and the Infant(Kindergarten) Section will be made witheffect from the new academic year.However, the registration for admissionwill commence from the month of Januaryfor the Indian Curriculum (with classesbeginning in April) and in April for theBritish and Bahraini National Curricula(classes beginning in September).

A student who seeks admission to any of theclasses of the school must take an admissiontest administered by the school in the subjectsdecided by the Head Teacher. He/she will beeligible for admission only if he/she performswell in the test. There is no provision for re-testing.

This is a well-equipped facility with books ona variety of topics which form useful supportmaterial for the school subjects as well as forproject assignments. There is a spaciousreading room and a special reference sectionand the library houses more than 2,000 bookson different subjects. VISION OF THE FUTURE

In line with our goal to provide qualityeducation for every child, we are in theprocess of developing new premiseswith better facilities and a hi-techenvironment. In these new facilities, webelieve Al Noor will grow from strengthto strength.

1. School fees are payable in advanceon or before the 1st day of eachcalendar month.

2. However, if the 1st day happens to bea holiday for the school, the fee should bepaid on the day following such aholiday.

3. Parents are requested not to entrustchildren with the responsibility ofpaying fees. The school wil l notassume any responsibility, if the fees sosent is lost.

4. Parents proceeding on long leaveor extended vacation are advised to pay the fees for the leave period, along with transport fees, before their departure.

5. The school expects all outstandingamounts to be settled before theresults of the annual examination aredeclared. It should be noted that allresults in cases where accounts havenot been settled will be withheld andwill remain so until the accounts aresettled.

6. Fees once paid will not be refunded.7. AS and A Level fees must be paid on a

termly basis, 3 terms/year.

1. Please note that the school is notobliged to provide transport for anystudent. If the school cannot providetransport, parents will have to maketheir own arrangements.

2. The school reser ves the r ight todiscontinue providing transport facility forany student at any time.

3. Parents are requested to inform theschool in writing 30 days in advanceif they wish to discontinue using theschool's transport service.

4. For any changes in the transportarrangements, at least 15 days notice isrequired. However, the school is notob l i ged to meet such reques ts .Adjustments can be made if they are feasible.

5. Transport fees should be paid along with the tuition fees on or before the first dayof each calendar month.

6. Parents will please note that it will be theirresponsibility to put children on the busand take them from the bus at the drop -off points each day. Under no circumstanceswill the school bus be able to wait for late- comers nor will the school allow its buses tostop at any unauthorised place.

7. The school reserves the right to makeany changes in the bus routes, stopsand t imings shou ld th is becomenecessary for any reason.

8. Students being col lected privatelyshould wait inside the school for theirtransport. Please Note: The school willnot take responsibility for any studentsonce they have left the school grounds.
