Welcome to the 146th Bradford International Orchestral Season

On behalf of Bradford Theatres, I would like to thank everyone who supports this historic season.St George’s Hall, which was built in the same period as the St Petersburg Philharmonic and the Berlin Konzerthaus, is the oldest of all operating concert halls in the UK, having opened its doors to music lovers for the first time in 1853. It is important for us in Bradford and beyond to hold claim to such a prestigious concert season and long may it continue.

I am sure you are aware that we are facing some exceptional challenges at the moment. Therefore we have had to make some changes this year to bring you what we believe is one of our most exciting and prestigious seasons in recent years. For 2011/12, we present seven orchestral concerts, one of which is a very special gala evening to close the season next May; seven chamber concerts at the Cathedral; and two concerts with Bradford Festival Choral Society.

I ask for your assistance. Be our ambassadors. If you are proud of Bradford’s historic season; if you love the classical music we bring to you; if you think St George’s Hall is a wonderful venue visually and acoustically, then please spread the word.

I extend a warm welcome to you and your friends to join us at St George’s Hall for a wonderful season of outstanding international concerts.

With best regards

Adam RentonGeneral Manager Bradford Theatres
