Our members had a great Spring Break week! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the club was open from 9:00am-5:00pm and members were able to come and have fun all day long. The 4-H club members made crafts and cooked food. The Girl Scouts met and talked about what Girl Scouts look like in other coun-tries. On Thursday, about 25 of our members went to Discovery Park of America in Union City, TN. They ex-plored all the exhibits, which included fossils, Native American history, the history of military weapons and vehicles, an exhibit about water and water pressure, and many, many others. The members also explored the exhibits outside: a replica of Davy Crockett’s home and town, and a train station with passenger trains. On Friday, about 25 members visited the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis– Sycamore View Unit

to compete in a basketball game. We are thrilled to say

that we won!

Jaydan Lewis, left, had fun playing on the play-ground, while Amaree Emery, Amelia Pankey, and Demarion McCurry (at right, left to right) loved the slide. We are

so glad Spring is here!

One of our Fun Friday events was “Fear Fac-tor.” Our members split up into teams to com-pete in games like eat-ing plates of gross food and picking plastic spi-ders out of a bucket of worms. The day ended

with a dance party (left).

Mauriel Pettigrew, above, pops a balloon to find out how many plates of food he must eat. Jayden Rader-Butler, left, eats the plate of

food for her team.

Blue Cross Blue Shield gave free physicals to many of our members this month, like Shon Williams (left). They also bought pizza for all those

who participated!

Our teens practiced their cake decorating skills by decorating sugar cookies for St. Patrick’s Day. Tim Hayes, pastry chef at Dumplins in Jackson,

is doing a great job teaching them!

Our 4-H club members made lots of fun crafts and learned how to cook dur-ing spring break week. They made trivets using drops of color that they al-lowed to spread and blend together, learned to make quesadillas, and paint-

ed glass jars with words and designs on them. They had a fun week!

Generation Rap “I have learned at the Boys & Girls Club that if you need help, ask a staff. I like it here because when I am failing in school or having trouble, they will help me. I like to go on the trips. Mrs. Patricia does a real good job teaching lessons to us. The staff here are very fun, helpful, smart, gentle, and nice. I like the Boys & Girls Club because I have a little bit of time to get my mind straight and to focus so when I go home I won’t get in trouble.” - Dejouirney Cole, age 9

Each Monday, a local minister comes to speak to students on topics such as integrity, good behavior, etc., as part of our RAP program. This month we would like to thank Mozelle Howse (top left), Russell Stanphil (left), and

James Howse (not pictured) for speaking

to our members.

We are thankful for each and every donation we re-ceive. Our third and fourth graders love the books that were donated by Tire King, People’s Furniture, and Baskerville Funeral

Home!
