The First Orange Guide Dog!
Last Friday we had a lovely visit from Matt Bryant
and his beautiful black Labrador retriever, Bronco.
Bronco is Matt’s guide dog as Matt is vision
impaired. He showed us some of Bronco’s many
skills and talked to us about how important
Bronco is in helping Matt live his life
independently and successfully. He also talked to
us about a walk-a-thon that the North Orange
Rotary club are holding at the Botanic Gardens on
26 March. Matt and Bronco are hoping that we
can help by getting people and businesses to
sponsor us for the walk-a-thon and that we all go
and walk around the Botanic Gardens on Sunday
26 March.
There are sponsorship forms and envelopes that
students would have taken home on Monday this
week. These can be returned to school on
Friday 17 March and we will pass the forms and
money on to North Orange Rotary. They are
hoping to raise over $35 000 for this project so
every little bit will help.
School Photo day School photos will be taken on Wednesday 15
March 2017. The younger classes will be the first
cabs off the rank so please ensure that your child
is on time so that they don’t miss out. Fitness
activities will be cancelled for that day to preserve
our neat and tidy appearance. Please ensure your
child is in full school summer uniform that day.
Envelopes can be returned to school on the photo
day, or before if you wish.
Cricket Congratulations to our cricketers who played in Perthville earlier this week. While they didn’t win the game, they certainly represented their school proudly and had plenty of fun playing the game. Great work boys!
Scripture
Welcome to another year of Christian SRE (scripture). Christian SRE is taught by volunteers with a Working With Children Number, trained in teaching SRE, authorised by one of the local churches and follow an approved curriculum. The curriculum includes teaching manuals, aids, student activity books, music and other activities that are age and stage appropriate and designed to meet the needs of children in each class. SRE encourages children to explore their beliefs and values, engage with ethical issues from a faith perspective, and explore how people apply faith to life. This term the children will be looking at God’s love for the world and people and investigate the context of Easter. The lessons encourage care of others, environment, forgiveness, mercy and good leadership. They will be engaged in drama, music, discussion and craft. The lessons also form part of the overall educational experience of acquiring Bible knowledge that enhances understanding of the foundational values of Australian society and English language, art and literature. More information is available from Kindy-Beginning with God, Connect and Big Questions links under the Primary School category on http://www.cepstore.com.au/c/71/primary-school
