ABOUT THE PROJECT

In May 2018 the Australian Government announced a funding commitment to duplicate the remaining 2.9km section of single freight line track between Mascot and Botany, known as the Botany Rail Duplication Project. The Botany Rail Duplication Project will aim to meet future freight demand and support current NSW government targets to increase the rail mode share.

PLANNNING PROCESS

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is delivering the project, and is in the early days of conducting field investigations, and preparing an environmental assessment called an Environmental Impact Statement. The project is a State Significant Infrastructure project and is therefore subject to State government approval. We are committed to working closely with the community as the Botany Rail Duplication Project progresses. We are inviting community members and interested stakeholders to attend a community drop-in event to meet the team, hear more about the project and share their feedback on matters for consideration in the Environmental Impact Statement.
